Dave, gotta get those lift blocks for sure. My ppf appointment will be soon as well! She is definitely getting tracked! Thanks for the recommendations !

FH212, I am not a white car guy either but I'm loving looking at this thing every time I get to walk up or walk away from it haha thank you.

wjones14, M235i is such a great fun car. I'm loving this thing more and more the more I get to spend time with it. I'm too damn busy, I just wanna put some miles on it. Mine is 1SS but what you get is still a real good deal. You're right about the drama, just even stock this motor/exhaust is pure sex.

Congrats. The chassis on the C6 Camaro is SUPERB. The Best handling front engine car I have ever driven.

I've had mine a little over a year, a few things I'd do right off the bat:

- Alignment

- Brake Lines and Fluid if tracking

- If the brake dust bothers you, Powerstop Z26, save stock pads for track.

- ACS rockers/side skirts and rock guards.

- PPF front end, rockers, bottom of doors, in front of rear wheel up to arch, below trunk opening. I'd use double thickness PPF in front of rear wheels.

- Lift blocks that clamp onto the pinch welds, I just put 4 of them on. Lifting the car with the recessed pinch welds is a pita, make sure you don't use the aluminum cross members.

- Blendmount and mirror tap for radar detector.
Great suggestions and i wish i had gone with DOUBLE PPF on the rear quarter panel and ACS side skirts.
As to PPF on the front i wouldnt do it again, but that's just my personal opinion. The biggest issue is rear quarters by a country mile, especially on a track.

Fyi to the OP: ZL1addons.com have lift pucks - a must have - (permanent work well) as well as nice (but expensive) tow hooks if ya dont like the one in the trunk, or if ya want a tow hook/license plate holder combo. They also carry mud flaps which help (just a little) keeping crap off the rear quarters.

Brake lines are optional imo. Ive tracked my car for 3 seasons with stockers with zero issues.

Cheers!

Yea I bumped into that site as well, I'll be ordering those lift pucks. And about the lines, yes I've never changed from oem lines on prior cars I used on track as well. But good suggestions guys thanks keep em coming!

Avalon, thank you man and yea everything I've read and the track tests I've seen are mind blowing. This car tied the 991 gt3 in motortrend's figure 8!

Totally agree... it was between the M2 Competition and my Camaro 2SS 1LE... drove both, and for the money, the Camaro wins easily.

I got a generic lift puck with slots for pinch welds off Amazon for cheap, that + a hockey puck works well. I also cut slots in the top of a pair of jack stands to fit the pinch welds so I have some options. The permanent lift points aren't strictly necessary, but part of having them installed is making it easy for a shop to lift the car without damage.

I'd also agree brake lines aren't necessary, just for pedal feel.

You can also get the same leather wrapped knee pads used in the 2SS or ZL1, I got them new for about $200 here in the classifieds.

On PPF I'm putting a layer of matte PPF in front of the rear wheels over the clear PPF, this area of the car gets a ton of rock hits even with rock guards. I just put the ACS side skirts on, hope that helps...

Why is it too late to put on PPF on the quarter panel, is it really that torn up? Mine's not bad at all (yet), just marble smears, but that's with just two track nights.

It doesn't even take track events to chip the area in front of the rear wheels. Just street driving will do it, and it doesn't take long. I replaced the small factory PPF pieces with PPF that went up to the body panel seam on mine with less than 200 miles on the car, and it already had a few minor scars. Even with those bigger PPF pieces, there are still some chips above the PPF. But by far, that lower area in front of the rear wheels is the most vulnerable on the car.

All you can do is add PPF and rock guards or splash guards. That won't stop the damage, but it will minimize it.

Agree with Track Club about the front PPF. It's just not really mandatory, compared to rear quarter.

Ive had the car for 3 yrs...they are torn up pretty bad.
If I decide to keep it for another season I will replace existing and double up with new per Dave's suggestion.
But, i may get a 2020 instead.

my old bmw 128i was the first car i've really wrenched on the suspension (struts, shocks, and camber plates). When i was aligning the front of my Camaro a few weeks ago, it all looked familiar, but i didn't make much of it because my only frame of reference was the bmw, guess it looked similar or other reasons.

One other area that’s highly vulnerable is the “U” - the A pillars, plus the leading edge of the roof (from the windshield back onto the roof 8-10 inches). On my ‘18 1LE, the most serious hits have been in that area - just make sure the installer wraps the PPF into the groove above the windshield.

Also, if you cover the splitter, hood, mirrors and rear spoiler (only necessary for looks) with the Xpel stealth material, all the black surfaces will match in color and finish.
