ZL1 timing advance, what's yours?

Just want to compare to see if I'm at least close to norm.

My car has:
9.10 balancer
LT catless headers
Roto-Fab intake
1 step colder plugs

I've been doing the tune myself and just want to see how it compares. Today for example, I did a 20mph to 120mph run. Car starts off with 16*ish of timing throughout the rpm range till around 80mph and will slowly go down to 11* by 120mph, as the IAT's climb up. Ambient temp was 100*F and car was at 195*F coolant temp. 0 KR through the run.

A/F ratio was 11.6:1 (have yet to set up the lambda value to display actual lamba). Any leaner though, I tend to get knock retard.

What do you guys see during a decent run at high ambient temps?

1st of all high ambient air temp, high IAT and high water temp spells disaster with lean AFR regarding knock. You may want to cool it down anyway you can, cooler IAT's , make it little richer on the higher rpm and it may not pull timing. Try running straight water with a water wetter in the engine and the intercooler with a cooler stat.

I plan on getting a cooler t-stat. I get no knock retard as it currently sits. Timing advance does go down though the longer the pull. I guess that's what you get with a tiny 1.7L heat pump.
