shell x-100 zinc additive

I have a whipple zl1 running around 17psi of boost. I am using Valvoline MST 5w40 Dexos 2 oil. I was given a bunch of Shell X100 zinc additive for free. Should I use this in my car?

I have cats, but honestly it's just for show. I don't care if they die.

No idea about this product, but too much zinc over a period of times will harm you cats. Problem is, if the cats overheat, or the flow is otherwise interrupted, it is not just your cats that die.

Agreed... Plus oil manufactures put a lot of time into their oil additives and if you add an additive you're throwing all of that off. I think you're best just purchasing a good oil and leave it at that.

If they crap out I'll gut them, but if there is no added benefit to adding the zinc then I'll leave it alone. Thanks for the feedback.

Dont use Zinc additive. If you want to run high ZDDP use this on the track, M1 0w50:

It's M1, which is what we're supposed to run in ZL1s. And it has very high Zinc over 1850 PPM I think. 15w50 has 1300 PPM.
