wasn’t there an issue before where the factory put them on upside down on some vettes and camaros and it required pumping with the nozzle upside down as well?

No problems in Kansas sounds like a car or fuel station issue?

I have never had a problem with the capless. I just put it in and take it out gently. Just enough to make it stay. I do wish the cover was locking.

Mine does this sometimes.

Either it was worse when I first got the car or I've been getting better at the technique with all my practice filling up the ZL1. A month after I got the car google added my local gas station next to home and work for my frequent stops...

What I do is push the nozzle in a little bit and lift it up and out, seems to do the trick.

There are lots of videos on YouTube of people with stuck fuel pumps. Most seem to be Fords. Even 1 news report I found about a stuck pump that required the fire department to come out to help remove it. So something is definitely up with these capless systems and certain types of pump nozzles.

Here is a 2018 Dodge Ram where it gets stuck:

There is apparently some flap inside the fuel tube that can get stuck on some fuel pump nozzles. I've tried to only use pumps where the nozzle seems to be perfectly smooth, but I've even had some of those get stuck.

I've had zero issues at our local Costco, so I try to use that when I can. But I'm not always on that side of town when I need gas.

Spray them with a water hose when they get stuck.

I mean not to be a dick about it, but the world is full of stupid people. I wouldn't use them as my defense.

Is there a benefit to the capless system? I don’t understand why it’s even a thing, I hate how easy it is for someone to put crap into the tank if they wanted to vandalize the car. Even my Hyundai has a lever I have to pull before the gas door will open - and that car sucks in every way possible except fuel mileage and a slightly more secure gas door.

I remembered back when I was in HS someone put water down my gas tank in my GTO. I bought a locking cap and have been paranoid about that stuff ever since. Now here I am with a 70k car and no way to prevent that from happening again.

Also, to stay on topic - I’ve never had a problem with the pump getting stuck.

Wonder how that would work here in Oregon where we are not allowed to pump our own gas. Attendants would be coming up asking how to remove it LoL, I would prob joke around saying the beast is hungry, its trying to eat the hose too !

I have a problem with certain pumps clicking off before I can get any gas in it. I’ve learned now which pumps at my favorite station will work. Still it’s a PITA.
