GM Credit Card

www.gmcard.com
Just in case there are people who don't know about this. It seems like a great way to help get into your Camaro if you're sure you want it, because the rewards can only be used on GM vehicle. It almost makes you want to wait longer . . . amost.

My apologies to the mods if this post is inappropriate.

Only if you pay it off each month and avoid the ridiculous interest of the card.(which I do) I have redeemed $3500 so far on 3 vehicle purchases. (Including $1500 towards my ZL1.)

Just pay it off every month like you're supposed to. I've had it for almost a year now and it's been fine. My parents have had it for decades and never been charged any interest.

Make sure you get newer "BuyPower" version from Capitol One, not the old rewards card.

Just put regular monthy expenditures on the card, avoid big purchases, and remember a bigger balance in your account doesn't equate to disposable income until the bill is paid again.

I put my car insurance, cell phone, DirecTV, gas pump transactions, and any other utilities that would take a credit card on it.

Based on what I saw on another forum (GMinsider) occasionally GM will offer up temporary "bonus" points, usually during the slower sales months in the winter. These points have short expiration dates, unlike the points you earn which never expire.

Also, no matter how many reward points to accumulate, you can only use a certain limit for each model of GM.
AND, it also depends on what other discounts you apply to your purchase.

Where did you see there are limits for each model?

Quote:
No more redemption limits: In the past, the GM Card had what were called “redemption allowances.” Only a certain amount of the rewards you earned could be used toward your car purchase. That ceiling was as low as $500 for some vehicles and went up to $3,000 for others.
The BuyPower Card has no such limits. You can redeem as many rewards as you earn, up to the full price of a new GM vehicle (if you’re so lucky).

The only discount it says it won't work with is an employee/supplier discount.

Can I use my BuyPower Card Earnings with the GM Employee or Supplier Discount?
No, however, BuyPower Card Earnings can be combined with the GM College Discount or GM Military Discount, if eligible.

I have had the card since '94. It really helps. I redeemed $3200 on 2015 3500 last month (between earned and top off offer). I have used it on 5 vehicles, it is a nice kicker, as mentioned just don't carry a big balance.

Perhaps GM has removed limit for each model, back when I bought my 08 Malibu, they had a limit for use on buying a Malibu. I just checked, and it looks like these days, there is no more limit as you pointed out.

As far as not being able to combine it with other discounts, it was the supplier discount I was using for that car that wouldn't let me use the GM card discount.

You need the Extended Family Card to combine it with Supplier/Employee Pricing.
