The 1LE fixed alot of issues and overall a much better performer than the base SS, even in drag racing with its improved gearing. Not to mention it looks badass.

Dampening is only one aspect of improving the handling of a car.

wow. The comments by those who don't "get" the 1LE.......

If you have never eaten a good ribeye steak, you think the sirloin is just fine.

The 1LE is not just about whether you need your car "track ready" or not. It is also just as much about -the feel- of the car. PLEASE, if you claim to be a car guy......Go drive one.

The 6th Gen Camaro is SO much better than the 5th Gen SS. BUT, engineers STILL have to tune the car for the 85th percentile of the population. If you are a hard core car guy (like me), I could not give a crap about being comfortable or cupholders. I want that last 10/10ths of performance. Even when I am driving to work at normal pace, I LOVE the feel of a hard core bad ass car under me. Its why I drive a Viper GTS. I have zero interest in a SS Camaro. Too soft.

The 1LE is certainly a great track performer, but I don't think there is consensus it was any faster at the drag strip.

The 1LE fixed the 5th Gen's biggest downfall, gearing(aside from weight). It also was offered with a larger and better tire, lighter wheels etc. All help with straight line performance.

Pretty sure gearing was definitely not the biggest downfall.

If gen 6 1LE is only offered in the manual and it's a similar package to the gen 5 1LE, it's not likely to beat or even match the SS auto in the 1/4 or 0-60. The changes mostly impact the road course, unless they put Trofeo R's on it like the z28 then ya, maybe.

Yes, but the 3.91 gearing also forced a shift to 4th gear in the quarter mile. The gen 5 1/4 mile fast list is dominated by pre 1LE cars. My stock SS was 2 tenths faster in the quarter mile than a friends stock 1LE. However, he was 2 tenths faster around Thunderhill raceway and I had 1LE sway bars with race brake pads.

The Gen 5 fast list is also dominated by cars less than a year old, in a car that spanned 5 MY's. I don't always have faith in these fast lists. I've seen more 1LE's run 12's stock than I have a regular SS in person. Also, most people buying 1LE's arn't drag racing them.

Did you ever drive a 1LE?

take it into a decreasing radius turn, and you will realize the package is worth double its asking price.

GM didn't market the 1LE as far as I can tell. The only reason I knew of it was reading about the 1LE concept on Camaro5, and eventually, the release information when it went into production. The whole "ZL1 without a blower" idea seems to come from most of the magazine reviews. The 1LE doesn't share as much with the ZL1 as most people think.

The C7 Stingray launched with the Z51 package, even though the Z06 was a year out. I don't see why the Z** coming out should prevent the 1LE from being released.

The 1LE package was nothing short of magical for the 5th gen SS. The base SS is so good this time around, It will be interesting to see the components of the 6th gen 1LE.
