GM Connect says 3000 too late to make changes

I saw that a bunch of us had received a status 3000 on our orders so I went to check on mine. At 1:06PM it said "Vehicle has been entered into the system and will be updated the following business day in most cases." So I checked with another member that ordered at the same time and he told me that he was at 3000 also. So I sent an email to GM Connect to see if they could help me with the status of my order. Larry Miller wrote back that the order had automatically updated itself and was at status 3000 and NO CHANGES COULD BE MADE. I know a few of us ordered cars that were not the primary color we ordered with the options we wanted because colors or options were not listed yet. I do not think that any of us thought it would go to 3000 so quick. I read Scott's note about still being able to make changes at 3000 but according to Larry at GM Connect, at 3000 it is too late. Now What??? This is Larry Miller's reply to me:

Steve, it looks like it automatically updated itself now. And you are already at status 3000 which is well along in the order process. However, at this point you cannot make further changes to the order, including color which your dealer was correct. Crystal Red is not even an option right now. Please note that some of the info on the YOUR ORDER tab may not have the correct English conversion as we have yet to get the new table formatted. But it looks like you will be getting one of the first ZL1’s built for sure. Do not be too surprised if it is not delayed for a good QC check as most of the early builds usually are given a very detailed Quality check over. Stingray is an awesome dealership so you made a great choice there for sure. Larry

Subject: ZL! Order

Hi Larry,

I gave my dealer, Stingray Chevrolet deposit for a 2012 ZL1. We placed the order over the phone with the Inventory Manager on Saturday morning. He told told me that the color I wanted, Crystal Red was NOT shown as being available, so the vehicle was entered as Victory Red to get the order started. Some of the options that I wanted were also not on the quick order form. He sent me screen shots of the order which showed a status of 1100. When I checked on GMConnects.com, the order is not shown. Can you help me?

I am trying to order a 2012 ZL1 with Crystal Red Paint and these options:
Manual Transmission
Polished 5 Spoke Wheels
Exposed Carbon Fiber Hood Insert
Suede Interior Package
Power Sunroof
Cargo Net

I find it hard to believe that changes can not be made with the build date being so far away.....

This is not reassuring, but I'll trust Scott on this one in that he says we can still change at event code 3000. Scott also confirmed that production is still scheduled for January.

I just sent Larry an email asking him if I am at event code 3000 even though the site lists 1102. Also asked for some clarification regarding making order changes at 3000. I'll provide his answer when I get it.

Another reason to WAIT to order, until you know EXACTLY what it is you are buying.

One, I'll believe Scott over any other GM employee. Secondly, I know for a fact that you can make changes to your order at 3000. Because when I ordered my 2011 the Hurst shifter was on constraint, and a few days after my order went to 3000 it got released. I called my dealer up and had it changed that day. Took me all of 20 minutes.

Per Becky D
The dealer can request a change up to 3100 status.

I hope Larry Miller is wrong.

That would be a shame for the first orders to be locked in before the ordering information is even available on Workbench’s traditional order configurator. It seems it would be a huge mistake for GM – although they were accepting orders it didn’t seem as if their ordering tools were correctly prepared. If they knew this was a possibility they should have warned those wanting options such as Ashen Gray and Crystal Red that their orders could be accepted and therefore unchangeable as soon as today.

Let’s have faith in Fbodfather, Becky D, and others when they say it can be changed. There is still a long time before production starts for GM to get everything right.

My dealer ordered mine with a manual by mistake.
Since I am at 3000. He said they sent a request to gm to get it changed to automatic, gm received the request and approved it. Changes may be a little bit more difficult to make, but can still be made.
