Magnuson 2650 on Bolt-on Setup.

Would it be beneficial to do a Magnuson 2650 set up on a bolt on setup. Not looking to do Meth. Planned on adding XDI 30% Injectors and the Katech Goliath HPFP when it releases with a DSX Low Side. I don't want to do Port Injection as I want to keep it basic.

Should I stick with stock blower or throw a 2650 on? I'm leaning more towards the 2650 that way I don't have to worry about MAT's ever again. At the same time I don't want to be disappointed and the car feel slower since I'm not taking full potential of the blower on stock heads/cam.

Thoughts?

Hmm…
My thoughts are based on going through some of that…

- If MAT temps are your motivation, just get a Interchiller and be done with it
- Maggy 2650 is a great blower and makes great power.
- Port Injection is a simpler option IMO. The Motiv controller and wideband capability make it easy to tune. It’s cheaper than going down the injector route.
- I’m on stock heads and cam. I’m making sub 900 at the wheels. Probably could have gotten there with a XPort but my setup is pretty reliable with the big Intercooler bricks and I’m not spinning it hard at all.

If you run E85 then MAT doesn’t really matter anymore. Alcohol needs heat to vaporize. Your tuner can adjust the knock retard thresholds and you’ll be good to go. If you’re staying under 800 WHP the 2650 is just overkill. So upgrade that fuel system! I’d do the Katech dual pump drop in over the DSX aux pump any day of the week.

Agree.... E85 LOVES Heat!! As you mention it needs the heat to properly vaporize. Honestly in the cooler months you are better off to dial back the Ethanol content. I have found my vehicles run better with E50-60 in them when it's cold out. E is intercooling on its own. You can throw MAT numbers out the window when running it. That is pump gas talk.

Ported stock blower running Ethanol is a stout combo to 8-850whp. The 2650 is a good option for pump gas road course cars, but other than that totally not needed unless the plan is to go 900+.

Far as fueling, I seen that prices have dropped on HPFP and Injectors, but the right play might be to wait for the DSX port setup and opt for the Katech dual drop-in low side. Run E whatever in the summer, Drop it back to E50-60 in the winter.

I believe the OEM LT4 blower will be faster at that power level.

Install an interchiller, ice tank, or both. Intake temps will recover very quickly.

Hey King, not to derail this thread, but why do you mention that above^^^. I love doing road courses and have been thinking about going a blend of ethanol now. I like the power level i'm at but always wanting juuuuust a little more. Thanks for your thoughts.

For 1/4 mile, the heat never really becomes a factor because as soon as your mat temps rise to matter you’re shutting it down and going back to the pits. At least that’s what I have seen on mine… I would love to try 1/2 mile.

For the road course… lap after lap for 20mins the heat soak is a much bigger factor. I run full e85 and the toohighpsi plates and the combustion has been perfect and no detonation. As the mat temps rise, you’ll see it in your lap times. The 2650 made it recover better and deliver a ton of power without having to spin the blower too hard.

Interesting air, i appreciate your insight. Maybe I'll just go with a transmission tune and call it good then.....

Looks like I'll be sticking to stock blower for my needs. Thanks guys. I'll throw an Xport on instead since I only street drive the car.
