If you're adding the bumper drls you'll need to remove the bumper but it's not difficult. Stupidly I didn't add my sema grille at the same time so have had to do it twice now but only takes 20 minutes or so.

Nice idea. How did you connect the wire to the light terminals?

I tapped into the existing trunk light wires where the cable dives behind the side panel of the trunk (black is negative, blue/green is positive), soldered joints, all wrapped up in the correct fabric harness tape. Ran the wires to the desired location, wired up the plug and cut a hole in the trunk panel using a cardboard template i made from the hole of the existing light. Looks 100% oem and the harness/wiring I added looks like it should be there too. Very simple to do, anyone can do the same and only cost a few pounds/dollars.

I wired up my DRLs and side markers myself and wired them slightly differently to the gen5diy harness anyway so that everything was MOT compliant. DRLs are wired into each headlight drl so that the bumper ones also turn off when the indicator is on. Side markers are wired into the rear lights and front headlights. The other option is to just wire them into an ignition 12v source but this way they come on when the auto lights trigger and on unlocking and are off in the daytime or if you turn the lights off on the stalk so gives a cleaner look during the day.
Thanks for the detailed info. May I ask which wire in the headlights and tail lights you tapped into (which color)? Do you have a photo?

For the front, the yellow wire is the headlight main beam for positive and black for negative. For the tail lights, black is negative for both and positive on the left is purple/grey, right is brown/grey. I considered using a relay but as the current draw is so low for led w5w bulbs and the voltage doesn't seem to be pulsed, all works fine with just tapping straight in (i soldered all the joints and wrapped in cloth tape)

If you're adding the bumper leds, grey/blue is positive and black is negative. If you wire it up this way they will go off whilst indicating during the day on that side which is what I chose since their brightness and distance between them and the indicator means for MOT purposes it's probably the safest. You can wire them up to be always on (as is oem in the US) by just wiring them to ignition 12v either to the fuse box or the front bumper harness but not sure how an officious MOT tester would feel about it. I also put a waterproof in-line switch to the bumper leds in case ever challenged at MOT time. Easy to just switch them off and say they're for off road use only rather than having them wired into ignition 12v or without a switch and having the hassle of disconnecting them.

Sorry I didn't think to take pictures at the time but it's very simple and if you route wires properly and wrap them in cloth harness tape, it looks just like oem.

Thank you Uk2019. I really appreciate the detailed info on the DRL/side markers wiring.

Thanks for the PN

How did you go about finding a plug for the extra light?

Sat at home today on a beautiful day with the car cover on, put it on a few days ago because I was going to be gone for work until late on 12/23 so covered it up, ended up home today unexpectedly but decided not to take the cover off for a single day and then have to recover it... I'll drive it Christmas eve... Almost had my 2020 2SS a year (just rolled 3,000 miles) and still love taking it out and letting the NPP sing...
