I think I'm in the "don't worry about it" camp. As long as you have good full synthetic oil 20min @280F wouldn't bug me.
Plus according to the temp gauges 305F is still ok for Oil, but not so much for Trans fluid, which according to the gauge is too hoy at 260F. |

I do run 15W50 and change it every two events.. Yes, your correct it's in the safe zone, was wondering if anyone came up with options. Thx for feedback.

I did some digging for S&Gs and found some interesting info:
From Mobil themselves: "Mobil 1 advanced synthetic motor oil provides outstanding high-temperature performance and is proven to protect at engine temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit." Synthetics can safely handle higher operating temperatures without oxidizing (burning) or breaking down. The upper limit for most mineral-based oils is about 250 to 300 degrees F. Synthetics can take up to 450 degrees F. or higher (some as much as 700 degrees F). So if the oil itself is not the limiting factor, I'm sure OEMs pick the next weakest link is setting their operating temperature limits.
