Too bad the GM "Authority" doesn't even know where the plant is. It ISN'T in "Metro Detroit", or anywhere near it! It's about 90 miles WNW of "Metro Detroit" on the west side of Lansing, which is in the middle of your palm if you look at your right hand, palm side up (it's a Michigan thing..."I am I am a Michigan man, ask where I'm from and I'll show ya my hand"!).

Metro Detroit is considered the City of Detroit and the surrounding suburbs. Our airport is called Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, but everyone just calls it "Metro".

Well, at least when they steal the Camaros from Lansing's shipping lot, they try to drive them BACK to Detroit. So that is something.

this is the worlds second chip shortage.
Lots people here dont remember the 80's ( i barely do) but there was a chip shortage for about 6 years. Same game, high prices, manufactures not used to making certain chips, high demand on these chips etc.

Did you forget about the massive fire in the early 90's that wiped out one of the largest manufacturing plants of computer RAM? That drove the price of memory chips through the roof for a number of years.

Yeah, 4mb of ram went from like $50 to $200.

I remember the shortage of HDDs and SSDs after the Aramco attacks. They literally bought the entire production of Storage up out of a few plants. Insane. Pushed Storage costs up for a good chunk of time.

I got lucky back then as I had purchased a new desktop before this happened, then weathered the hike, but it was crazy indeed.

I think I recall dumping $700 on 8MB at one point. Don't recall when. Good ol' days!

I've never called it Metro. Always Detroit Metro. But I grew up in SE MI so maybe it's a 'local' thing.
