6 speed Manual or 8 speed auto; what will you choose?

Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster. What can I say, I am really looking forward to seeing the new 6 on the streets later this year. I think GM did a great job, the interior looks fantastic, the proportions were reduced just the right amount, the gills are gone, new lighter platform, standard Brembo brakes, magnetic ride suspension and the list goes on. I'm saving up my pennies for an SS early next year.

I've had an RX8 and a GTO both with manual transmissions and I don't have to tell you guys why manuals are so much fun or how the stick enables drivers to feel in complete control of the car, BUT with the introduction of the 8L90 I can't help but ignore the cool factor of the paddle shifters, the convenient option of putting her in automatic to cruise, and also what I assume will be better gas mileage.

What will you be choosing?

edit: mods can we get a poll going?

I see the appeal in a manual and love the rev match and no lift shift.

But the 8l90 is boss. If it were still the 6l80, I would consider manual.
I forgot to mention the rev match feature on the manual, definitely a big appeal.

Actually, ender2664's Camaro has a V6 Engine and he seems quite happy with his "sports car"... which is nice. Personally, I wanted a "muscle car", so I bought a V8. I also wanted the quickest basic SS... so I bought one with an automatic. And since the engines will be 455 HP in both the 6th Gen manual and auto, the auto should really smoke the manual.

Looking forward to test driving one of the '16s, with a 8-speed auto of course.

Tritus,

Good one! Gentlemen, I just joined Camaro5 (and 6!) and this will be my first post! I am Rickman on Corvette Forum. Don't let the Toyota 4Runner fool you; I've had 2 Vettes & 1 Camaro SS.

The sports car world is changing, especially now with all the dual clutch AT's plus Chevy's 8 sp. AT. I waited til now (C6) to jump back into the Camaro game because, frankly:

1. It chapped my ass that Chevy wanted me to settle for a 400 hp L99 while the 6MN boys had all the LS3 fun. (I live in MD & travel Balt. & Wash Beltways frequently, with massive traffic jams)

2. C5 was 200 + lb. too heavy, as we all know!

I predict that the C6 Camaro will be a tremendous success, especially because of the 8 sp AT, LT1, exciting new interior, etc. Chevy has been able to attract younger buyers back into the Chevy camp with 500k cars sold in 5 years! I also predict that older guys will move from Corvette to Camaro because the C6 Camaro SS will be such a great car: more room than C7 Vette, with easier ingress/egress.

So, yeah, let's go! Put me down for that gorgeous new C6 Camaro SS in blue, with AT. As with the new Z06, we will have the faster car!

Rickmann

A8 in an SS, probably a convertible. Most likely silver or white, to reflect that Texas sun.

It would depend on how much I use it. As a DD I'd get an auto. For a weekend toy? Manual.

Based on where I live, what I do and the types of motorsports I enjoy...auto.

I've been happy with the A6 and I'm sure if I do indeed pick up a 2016 or 2017 it'll be with an automatic.

(Do you see how ridiculous you sound?)

Just as you've chosen the V6 over the full muscle car experience of the V8, some people choose an automatic over the full NASCAR experience of a manual.

There's no need for your condescending remarks.
