Sounds like an exhaust leak to my ears. Id have whoever installed them give it a look, maybe a good tightening is in order. If that does not help, the second step would be to try new header gaskets.

Here is my video. I start on the passenger's side and then go to the driver's side.

Driver's side is where it is more noticeable.
2018 2SS, automatic, dual NPP exhaust, everything else is stock, 700 miles.

Man, that sounds exactly like my 2016 SS with 2000 miles. Seems surprising to me just how many of us have this ticking going on. I just hope it is indeed normal DI related and nothing fatal. Fingers crossed.

I have an appointment later this week with the dealer. I will private message you with what, if anything they find.

Sounds like the normal DI tick. 5300 miles and mine sounds the same way. No issues. Hopefully your dealer isn't opening up the engine, but if they are, they are clueless. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Share it with everyone.

Anyway, if I'm wrong, I'll come back and eat crow.

Good news! I brought my car down today to the dealer. They had their Chevy certified engine mechanic take a look and listen. He said the noise is normal and is coming from the high pressure fuel pump system. I asked him how would I know if it was a bad lifter, and he said a bad lifter would make a tapping sound and would be 1/2 the speed of the engine.
So, I hope this puts people at ease.

2018 1SS NPP Cold Idle, metallic tick sound

Hey everyone, I’ve been hearing this strong ticking coming from the driver side of the engine block and is easily audible in the cabin and outside. It only occurs on cold starts and continues for the first few minutes of driving. I’ve heard some say it could be the lifter but I have no idea. The ticking increases in speed when giving more throttle. Also been experiencing strange/unpleasant shifts but I’m not sure that’s related. Car only has 750ish miles on it and was purchased new a few weeks ago.

Hmm. That ticking sounds like metal on metal (bad lifter). I am not an expert though. Does it go away or get quieter when the car is warm? Mine is on the driver's side as well, but the dealer head mechanic told me it was the HP fuel line and not a lifter.

I'd have that checked out, especially, if you are going to do any mods later on. At least you get it documented.
Let me and the others know.
