From what we have tested on our in house engine dyno a 8L90E shows 17.7% driveline loss.

I believe one is talking about loss through the transmission only and others are referring to total drivetrain loss. The M6 is about 8% + 5% for the rear end, The A8 is 12% + 5% for the rear end. So total is 13% for m6 and 17% for the A8.

Nasty! Running the numbers is what matters, but congrats just the same!

Every auto would be putting down 20HPish less on every dyno run. I just haven't see that on the countless dyno postings.
If you are pulling 405-410 w/A8 stock on a dyno that would mean almost a 500hp lt1. Not likely I dont dispute his numbers or anyones really. I just have a different way to figure it out Anyways. We will continue with the regular scheduled programming. Sorry for the interruption. Cheers. I want a bigger Cam now......

Nice job! That is such a great quarter mile time...
What difference did you see on the dyno comparing 5th gear vs 6th gear?

And most a8s dont dyno 400+ rwhp. Most are 390ish. With a 17% drivetrain loss, that would mean 470 hp at the flywheel. Isn't terribly hard to believe. Not trying to have an arguement... just a conversation. |

Just remember, trying to correlate dyno numbers from different parts of the country is meaningless. Its just a tool to measure before and after results using the same dyno and car, presuming the dyno operator doesn't game the runs. Dyno sheets from the same mods on different cars from different parts of the country are all over the place.

It is crazy the jump from 5th to 6th for your car. I usually only see 22rw or so.

I concur that it would have made a couple more hp but you were only 100rpm away from peak power and tip over locked. I am sure he hit the 187mph car limit in 6th. The curve is top to bottom much higher in 6th than 5th. Everyone of these cars seems to be much different with the gap in power between 5th and 6th. From what I have seen, the curve is the curve. The gear doesn't effect that.

Agreed. But like you said....the track should be the defining factor on a setup. At least in my mind. Don't really care to see Dyno Kings!! Glad to see more ppl racing 6th Gens, but still not that many yet.
