Need some advice.
in march 2018, I bought a brand new 2018 Camaro 2ss manual. I had it for 6 months and then because of health problems I wasn't able to keep it anymore because I could no longer work to afford the payments. I sold the Camaro and last year I bought a 2019 mustang gt. I don't really like the color anymore and also kind of want to get back in to a Camaro. I hated the 2019 body style but they made it better in 2020, yet I still don't like it nearly as much as my 18. I really enjoy the feeling of a brand new car but I'm not sure if I wanna go with the current body style. I guess I could just grab another mustang in a different color but like I said, I sort of miss being in a Camaro. what do you guys think I should do? here are my options:
1. buy a new Camaro (2020) SS, ZL1 2. Buy a used Camaro (16-18) SS, ZL1 3. mustang |

Do you want the new electronic gizmos (rear view camera, MyLink 3 infotainment, small gauge cluster improvements), or do you want the look you like best and save a ton of $$$ buying used vs new? Only you can decide which is more important for you.
One thing's for sure, option 3 is nonexistent

2. is the option that I would suggest! Find a used ZL1 with either a A10 Auto or 6 speed and call it done! Upgrade to a ZL1 since you had a 2SS before and I don’t think you will regret the decision. I know I don’t regret upgrading to the used 2017 ZL1 from a 2016 2SS that I bought new!

The believe the 2020 SS is 0% 84 months
ZL1 0% 72 months That’s very attractive.

Better question to ask do you love the Camaro more than the Mustang or Mustang more than the Camaro? Two do you feel like you need or want the latest technologies in a car? If answer is Camaro then decide if you want to save a few bucks and buy a 16-18 used or do you want the latest and greatest and buy a 2020.

If you can afford it, buy a new ZL1. If money is an issue get a used ZL1 with low miles.

Try Cars.com and do a 250 mile search from your zip code if you are willing to travel. That’s how I found my used ZL1 last March in South Carolina 300 miles from my home in Georgia.

Used '16 -'18 gets my vote! So easy to find literally better than new examples (under 3k miles, paint corrected and ceramic coated) if you're willing to travel.

I'm going to suggest putting your option 2 in the #1 slot, with the caveat here being to avoid the A8 due to its continuing problems with shuddering. Supposedly the aftermarket has a reliable fix in the transmission calibration, but it probably isn't endorsed by Chevy/GM. I'd put your option 3 next, but only if you can find it in a color that you're sure that you're going to be OK with, long term. I'm moving this up a notch only because you don't seem to be much interested in 2020 technologies. For option 1, if you're not actively looking for the latest technology items - or actively trying to avoid them - don't look any higher than a 1SS. Norm

That being said I would look for a low mileage 2017-2018 ZL1. Plenty of them out there hardly driven will still look and smell like new for significant amount less then new. If you buy a New Zl1 for 63k, in 1yr & 5k miles later you have a 50k car. Let somebody else take the 10-15k hit. jm2c

If you can afford it go with option : 4. ZL1 / 1LE Its going to hold its value better than any of them and if you swap cars out alot you wont take as big as beating in depreciation. Plus, its a better car. Just my 02 cents worth. |
