YEAH, ANOTHER 1LE TIRE QUESTION
So I'm going to have to get some new rubber this year. Tirerack has a set of 4 of the PS4s for $1500 and a set of 4 SC3s for $1150. Will I get that much more mileage out of the 4s? Mostly just routine driving but may get in a track day or 2 eventually. I don't drive it in rain or snow so that's not a concern. Also curious about the temps the 4s can be driven in. I'm afraid to drive on my SCs below freezing. Any help is appreciated.

Have you ever considered having two sets of tires? (One for daily/winter season) and another for summer/track. I know many people switch tires before and after season and with the money you may be saving from Goodyears, you may almost get another set (I paid $500 For a set of Kumhos when there was a deal)

Yeah, that's a possibility. That means I have to buy 2 sets though. My SC3s are about done for

i have the ps4s i have done 2 and half track days about 15000 miles and a few auto x days and still have tons of tread life left they are great daily driver/weekend fun tire and not bad on track either but the stock goodyears are better for just track/auto x use

No joke, I ran these last winter and they were great, a tad noisy but smooth riding and grippy. This year I purchased the Bridgestone RE980's thinking they would be a step up, they weren't. Got all four Lexani's 305/30-20 and 285/30-20 for $550 Amazon Prime.
The PS4's are a great all around tire and you can push them pretty hard, I can't vouch for milage as I only have about 5K on them but folks are reporting 30K plus. You won't mistake them for SC's but thats a good thing for your paint and cabin noise. If there is any chance of freezing don't run the PS4 or any summer compound as they can crack. That said I've run them in the mid forties and nothing bad happened. This time around I threw down for some MMR Z28 OEM size rims, TPMS sensors and A/S tires so I can swap them at will. I also do not drive in the snow willingly. |

Come to think of it they may have been lx9s which is obviously a lower rated tire. U think the SC3s are loud?

yeah, they’re loud af. when outside: i hear the tires long before i can even see the car. when inside: well i can hear the tires over everything else, especially on the interstate. some of the grooved concrete sections are ridiculous.
