It Might Be Practical...

With new laws passed here in California it's becoming more and more difficult to make good power and still be quiet, especially if you're trying to stay naturally aspirated. The garage is currently occupied by a full bolt-on 2016 Camaro SS, it's very loud with the cat-less headers and now especially, it's going to be very hard to drive it spiritedly and not eventually be caught. I think a good option would be to build a custom rear-mount turbo, obviously we would re-install the stock exhaust and the turbo/'s would act as another muffler keeping things pretty quiet, not asking for anything crazy maybe 550whp.
What is everybody's thoughts?

The G1Pro guy (member on here) had built a rear-mount single turbo setup on his car. He had a thread about it quite a while ago. He ended up doing twins in the engine bay and I don't know where the rear mount single went.

BTW even a bolt-on car can go decent with stock exhaust. I've run as quick as 10.88 in the 1/4 mile with my SS with mild bolt-ons and all-stock exhaust. Has been commented on that it's surprisingly quiet for a 10 second car. Not saying it doesn't give up performance, because it does, just that it's not like comparing a turbo to not turbo. It probably gives up 20 or 25 hp in bolt-on trim.

Plenty of 10 second cars on stock exhaust like wnta1ss said. Mine was also and have just now changed the exhaust with the new motor. Just buy an NPP system to calm it down and way cheaper then the Turbo route unless you just want to spend 10 grand building one. The police and highway patrol will agree and you won't get any tickets and maybe through a couple high flow cats on it.
