When do you park your Camaro (motorcycle or other vehicles) for the season?
For those of us who get to experience *real* winters, I'm just curious to hear the different timelines/practices for storage? I have not had to worry about storing my car for a few years now; my previous three performance cars were driven all year. Prior to that, I did leave the fun car parked in the garage until spring.
Fast forward to today, and now I'm stuck between do I continue to drive the fun car or leave it parked (because it is clean)? . We've had a few brief dustings of snow but winter hasn't really started yet. The roads are clear and it is not winter yet, other than the slight cold. I almost don't want to drive the Camaro because then I will likely be stuck washing the car in mid-high 30's...if not worse LOL. The detail/finish work I can do in my garage, but it is not really set up for the washing portion..one can dream |

I live in the Denver area and drive my high performance cars year round with the exception of periods of ice/snow. Sunny afternoons in the 20s or 30s are not a problem as long as you accommodate reduced traction.

I also think location is a HUGE factor here as well. I'm guessing you are probably near a freeway or two, and/or other roads that are decently maintained. I have no major roads around me, and the townships maintenance of winter roads is laughable, at best. Last edited by zaimer; 11-19-2020 at 08:57 AM. |

Mine is my daily driver, and I drive it year-round. We don't get much snow and ice here, and everyone freaks out and shuts down when we do, so it's usually not an issue.

Haven’t driven it in almost 2 weeks. Probably going into storage tomorrow. It will probably re-emerge about mid-April, weather depending.

I have found that in the winter the key is having quick access to east/west roads which warmup faster than north/south roads. For example, my house is on an east/west road that's 4 mi. long with only one light.

In north MS, you can drive year round.
I pick out the best days for recreational driving. Probably drive it the least in july and august due to heat. During the planting and harvesting season, I am very careful due to farmers pulling large amounts of soil on to the pavement. |

I have both. My bike now gets put away when temps are consistently below 50. I use to ride into much cooler weather, but the older I get the less I care for it. The Camaro I will keep out until the salt or here in WI (Brine as well) hits the roads. I have all season tires on mine for this purpose. I will get them back out after a good rain or two to wash all the salt off the roads. Normally after winter here in WI the roads look like they've been painted white, there is so much salt down.

I put the ZL1 and Z06 away as soon as they salt/brine the roads. They do both here. The last few years that has been in October. As soon as it rains and washes the salt away, the cars come back out. That is usually late April.

In Cleveland, just on the outskirts of the snow belt.
I plan to drive my Camaro year-round, however, it won't be driven when there is snow/moisture on the roads (and salt, of course). It will just stay in the garage until conditions dry up. I will drive around the Mazda 3 instead until conditions improve. I don't care what the temperature is or anything like that, as I swapped out to Performance All-Season tires. I have a battery tender for longer periods of time I won't be driving it, but otherwise, no special 'winterizing' or anything. |

Winter set-up is on and I'll drive it year-round no problem. If there is a shit tone of snow I'll wait for the plows to clear the roads. Only limiting factor is ground clearance, not traction with good winter tires. There is enough tq at idle where you don't need to throttle out. I laugh at all the owners who keep their mass-produced Chevs in the garage at the slightest hint of precipitation. Maybe it's just the Canadian cars that don't melt in the rain.

You're lucky you're in North FL. My area, SWFL Nov thru the end of March SUCKS for driving. The increase in traffic, and the old, slow drivers. The highway especially in the mornings sucks on the weekends. There will hardly be anyone on the road but a few older folks driving slow when I want to let her rip. |
