Stock GYFS tires
Any reason why I should try a new tire brand?
No snow, very little rain, no track, weekend car only. Thanks |

If your happy with your current setup, why change it? I personally am on the fence of switching them out for the sport 4s's, but that's because my car is more of a dd than it is a weekend car. If my car was strickly a weekend car, I'd keep the stock setup.

I found the GY to be nice and sticky, but wore out completely in 10K miles. Ride on Ps4s is a bit better, definitely less (but not zero) tram-lining, and while the PS4 cost more, almost 2x more than some of the GY sales I've seen, should get enough tread-life to still come out far ahead with the Michelins.

If you're not tracking it, the SC3s are a bit overkill and will wear out faster than other tires that will give an equivalent performance on the street like Mr. NoBrakes alluded to.
If you want to keep similar street performance then the PS4S is an excellent choice and $/mile you get out of tire wear should be better than stock. Getting an alignment check to make sure you're not wearing tires faster because of sometimes less-than-stellar factory alignment can help there as well. If you don't drive hard on the street and want to even further maximize miles you get out of a set of tires, can look into some summer-oriented all seasons instead. I believe there's a few options out there for this as well that are usually cheaper than stock and should easily double the mileage you get out of a set of tires while still maintaining some aspect of performance. Might not be exactly factory size, but should be able to find them in either 1 step larger aspect ratios or slightly narrower or wider than stock.

Put a set of 4S on my Camaro in September. I had used them on my two GTRs for years previously. The world's premier ultra performance (dry and wet but no snow) tire

It's hard to beat PS4S on the street. Vs GY SC3 you get a more comfortable ride, less tramlining, makes less noise, much better in the rain and will last at least 2x as long. Difference in performance is not a big deal on the street as the car is so capable anyways, the biggest difference is probably a softer or less sharp turn-in.

PS4S are expensive, wow!
Never really thought about all seasons for the desert, but they seem much more affordable. Discount tire has Bridgestone potenza for $242 w/ 50k mile warranty. Got some some making to do. Thanks everyone. |

I just put another set of sc3's on but it is a track/weekend car. Only got 5,100 miles out of original set. I was looking for ps4s for daily wheels but was unable to get the fronts anywhere.

3Rs wear much faster vs regular SC3s. I got around 5k road miles + 10 AutoX events out of regular 3s. You won't get that warranty for a staggered setup. For Michelin it's cut in half, other brands I'm not sure.

I am in the minority it seems, but I LOVE the SC3 tires. I also drive my car hard on the street though and I bought the 1LE to actually use what it is capable of.
They are cheap compared to the PS4, so IMO it is a win/win. But as I said, I am a performance guy and actually drive my cars hard, as they were intended. 1.2 G's around cloverleafs is a great feeling and so is turning and burning up a mountain road. But, that is me and I seem to be in the minority.
