Wheel spacers

I just had my new winter wheels and tires put on my 2018 RS which look great the only problem is the wheels are 18x8 with 35 offset so they are pretty tucked in the wheel well. In hindsight I should have done more research beforehand but does anybody have suggestions on wheels spacers (8mm or 10mm) or should I just deal with them not being flush. The wheels have a center bore of 76.1 so I have a hub centric ring from the stock 66.9 CB. I am not sure what size or type spacers I would need to get so any tips would be great.

My scenario is exactly the same as yours. I have a 2018 RS, and recently bought some 18x8 winter wheels and tires with a 35mm offset. Personally I'm just gonna buy some 3mm or 5mm spacers, so they will sit very similar to the stock 8.5" factory 18's that have a 32mm offset. For me it will be enough without getting to crazy

I don't think you can use more than 5mm spacers safely with stock studs: not enough threads. That is certainly the case on my SS 1LE.

Exactly. I'm thinking maybe he's referring to actual wheel adapters and not spacers

Seems to me if you're actually going to drive the car in the snow, even if it's only to accept the chance you're going to get caught by surprise, you're going to want the wheels and tires set further in so that there's less chance of fender or paint damage.

Conventional "gotta-be-close-to-flush" preferences in wheel & tire appearance need to take the back seat here.

I use 7mm spacers to maintain the stock outer alignment of the wheel w/ my winter wheels. It does require longer studs, I used ARP +1" and shaved the "nose" off so it works w/o spacer and closed-end lugs, and I can use larger spacers for an autox setup too.

I agree you can go up to 5mm spacers on the stock studs.

I don't think there's such thing as a 8mm or 10mm adapter: that's too thin to make it work. I know one thing for sure: if someone is selling such a thing, I wouldn't use it!

Gotcha. Then maybe the OP has no idea what he's actually looking at lol

Also, I should say I generally agree with Norm's post that for winter duty it's probably best to fit the wheels as close in to the center as one can. In the case of my 2020 SS 1LE, I have base-model 18x8.5 et32 for "all-season/winter" duty. They were hitting the brake scoop/duct thing on the front control arm just a bit, and a teensy trim plus 5mm spacers up front allow me to go full-lock on the steering without any touching. But yeah I probably wouldn't space them any farther out than necessary.

Yeah, I have ACR rock guards + side skirts so no worries about paint damage. I wanted it to look as close to stock as possible w/ the winter setup, mostly for vanity.

Google motorsport tech and get your adapters. That exactly what I did with wheels I bought that had a 35mm offset. These are American made and come with lifetime warranty. Have run them for miles with no issues. Don't buy cheap overseas stuff. Motorsport will custom make the adapters and ship them out to you. Need more info send me a private message.
