I'm sure these lifters are a weak point on the engine. I know mine could act up anytime and then I would have GM take care of it.
The tech that looked at at the car mentioned that all early builds got lifters from a specific manufacturer. (Can't remember the name) They had issues with those lifters (tapping, failing) and switched to a different manufacturer, and those lifters are the ones that will be installed now.

THE ORIGINAL, FAULTY LIFTERS WERE USED ON EVERY SINGLE EARLY BUILD L99 and no amount of oil changes, spitshine or condescension will make them act right. My car was delivered to the dealer in late 2009. How about yours?

I got mine on 18 Nov 09, my wife's birthday! I was on my way to a doc appointment and saw them. I had time so I had to check them out. I was seriously considering the SRT but not for 50g! They weren't budging off of that either. The Camaro said yes to me in every way and for 10g less. I picked it up after the doc and wished the wife a happy birthday!

Updated lifters have been implemented on newer models, and are available for retrofit- they just have to hear it happen before they can start work on the car. Would be worth looking into.

We rebuild rockers all the time for people, just did a set of LS3's for a person. The Comp kit is nice and comes with instructions and new bolts.

As long as it does it for their tech you should be fine. Mine didn't, gonna have to leave it there overnight I think....

Been in the shop for 11 days now. I had the trans checked out, it's ok, waiting for a drivers side mirror. The original reflected blurry images. They say they haven't heard the lifters tap yet but aren't ready to give up so neither am I.

Given that there's a TSB, I'm surprised that they ahave to hear it for themselves before they start.

Mine tap maybe once every 20 starts, for 1 to 2 seconds, so I haven't bothered to talk to the dealer.

Any idea whether this problem actually causes damage, or is it an annoyance only?
