We do laps at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 19th for Chevy Customer Appreciation Day, so hope to be looking fresh for that.
American Authority said the clear center piece will be available in June and I plan to get that and swap them out.

For what it's worth, I have their hood. I was 100% not tracking that the bulge is plastic, flimsy plastic at that. It wiggles and shakes constantly while on the road at the back side of it. Also, the fitment leaves a lot to be desired. I have their hood and their grille. The grille I could not put on my car as it was sent--I had it custom painted, instead. The hood I had wrapped in satin black and then ceramic coated; I had to keep the 1LE theme going, you know?

I sent AA an email on this and have gotten no response as of yet. I wish I had gotten this feedback prior to opting for it and now that it’s at the paint shop, it’s mine. I do have a local friend who is sponsored by them who wants this hood but his funds are tight right now and I told him should I not be down with it, maybe he’d have interest.
We’ll see but I’m hopeful as well as optimistic! May look like the old ‘72 Mustangs when they had the shaker hood scoop which was cool back then. We’ll see.....

As hard as it may be to believe, I just saw my first ZL1 up close in person. Wow! It's amazing up close. The hood and grill are very aggressive, better than I thought. Getting to a point here. The hood. It really sets the car apart from one without that hood.

So, how close is this AA ZL1 style hood to an OEM GM ZL1 hood?

Anybody have some side by side photos for comparison? Probably a stretch to ask that question, but I will.

Mine is still at the paint shop. This being the third week I would imagine I’ll get a call this week to come up for the swap. Can’t wait since I have the nose swap, the regular hood looks obsolete.

Funny! We were at the shop Friday and got the hood put on. I’d been holding off for a couple of weeks due to rain and storms here.

So it’s on and I’m getting use to it. The shop did excellent job in paint match as usual. It’s gloss BVM on underside, seems to fit well and the only thing I may have issue with is that closing seems to require a little more effort. I think an adjustment back a tad will take care of that.

My hood didn’t have hardware for the scoop. It was nowhere to be found though AA said where it could be located within the box, but nothing found. I sent them a message and they said it wasn’t anything complicated and I learned they were not sending stainless materials and those who had the hardware said it was rusting by not being stainless so maybe it was a good thing! My shop ended up using black rivets and it looks professional.

The drive home the scoop does have a slight vibration to it but nothing that’s intolerable. I got the car up to speed a couple of times and it was no big deal. I’m 62yrs old and this kinda reminded me of the ‘72 Mach 1 Mustang with its shaker hood. I can live with it. My thing is change. I get stuck in my ways on things and though I like the hood, I need to get use to it, the change from OE. When I explained this to my shop, they said instead of boxing up my OE hood and bringing it to me to store in the basement, they’re going to store it in the shops overhead storage for the next 4-6 months and let me make a decision on whether I want t keep the AA on or revert back to OE.

It’s not a bad hood though, good quality and so there you have it. Not a lot of pics.

Looks to me like they did a fantastic job with the paint match. Better than my painter did with my hood. As for closing the hood, this one weighs considerably less than OEM, and I have found that free falling sometimes isn't enough. And we definitely do not want to press down on the hood since it is a light aluminum. From about 1/4 open, I just swing it down quickly. Latches every time.

Looks good bro!

Thank you all and yes the hood is lighter I’m sure. I have one issue and that’s a dimple where the young tech pushes down on the hood by the strut and well, a small dimple formed. The shop plans to have a PDR Specialist come to me and he can remove it from the top.

As I said I’m happy with it but it’ll take some time to get use to. Just me being an old guy and stuck in my ways type of person.

The dimple:
