Kumho Ecsta V720 vs Goodyear SC3R

Hey guys, just like the title says, how do you feel the Goodyear SC3R compares with the Kumho Ecsta V720 from the 2016 Viper ACR?
Does anyone have anyone have any experience with the Kumho Ecsta V720?

I'm always shocked at how fast the Viper ACR performs around the track; it's faster around Laguna Seca than every other production car except the McLaren P1 at just over 1:28 so I figure the tires must be amazing as well.
Plus when Chris Harris says it's in another league compared to the Porsche GT3RS, that's really saying something.

If you end up doing that, let us know what you think of them, would love to see a review on them from a Camaro owner.

Just realized it's not really an option to get these tires in a square set up for easy front/rear swapping on track days unless a person is content with settling for 295's on all 4 corners since the 355's will be too wide from any front wheels.

I was planning on running 305 RE-71R's on the front and the 355 ACR's in the rear

My understanding is that RE-71R's are autocross tires and get "greasy" fairly quick compared to track day full R compound tires .
I don't know for sure what the ACR's are but I would guess they'd be full R compound considering the car they are on, if so, probably not a good combo.

The V720 is a 200 tw tire, not an R Comp. Check the Tirerack Extreme Performance Tire Test. It is similar to the RE71R.

That's a surprise, I didn't know that, I thought they would have put a better track tire on such a capable track car... I'll check Tirerack out for sure.

I tried a set of these on a Miata a few years ago, and was not very impressed. They seemed very much an AutoX tire, and got greasy after a few track laps on a hot day. On a heavy, high HP car I think they'd overheat pretty quickly.

They also got really loud, really fast (~1k miles). I pulled them off after about 1500 miles and a couple of trackdays and dumped them on CL.

IIRC, the Viper sizes had a unique compound, so YMMV...

I don't see a video on the V720 ACR, can you provide a link?

Are you sure your not talking about the V720 as opposed to the ACR version?

I just can't see Dodge putting autoX tires on the Viper ACR and then setting lap records at Laguna Seca with that car.

So to clarify, the tires you tested were not the V720 ACR, just the V720?

If so that would make sense to me, I just can't see Dodge putting autoX tires on the Viper ACR and then setting lap records at Laguna Seca with that car.

At the time, there was no "ACR" designation that distinguished the Viper tires, just the sizes. I always understood it was a different compound and was just trying to point that out, because the performance in the non-Viper tires was not all that great.

The "ACR" was developed specifically for the Viper, so would they 'work' with a vastly different chassis? I dunno... The disparity in size front to rear concerns me. I think you would get a lot of understeer with those sizes on a Camaro.

I agree with everything you are saying, that was my take and my thoughts as well.
