Gen6 RS wheel info. Please Help
Hey all, so I am trying to select new wheels and tires for my 2016 2LTRS and I am loosing my mind trying to work out what my options are. There is so much info in the forums and sometimes contradictory and on top of that alot of online sites say that the wheel doesn't fit my car when I know from the numbers that it will??
I just thought I would post this so that I and other newb RS folks could get the info in one place. I have found out now (through reading threads) that my stock rims are the same size all the way around. Call me crazy, but I really want to see if I can get some of these as I think they look badass. https://www.carid.com/xd-series-whee...270427574.html the issue I have is that I cant seem to easily find the limits of what I can go to for selecting aftermarket wheels, that dosnt require me to do any kind of crazy/$$$ mods (lowering, flaring, etc). So if I wanted to do a straight swap out for what is on the car, I would need to match the following: 20 x 8.5 off 25mm bt 5x120 and tires 245/40ZR20 So .. wat are my limits without having to do anything crazy? and where do I get that info from? Can i do 20 x 10 off 30mm bt 5x120 all the way around? and if so how do you know what size tires to choose so there isnt any rubbing? sorry for the dumb questions, but Brain is going to explode, but Im hoping that you guys can put this to bed for me

Pretty sure you can fit them, it if the same base car and some people with an SS are going even crazier.

Rubbing issues can be caused wheel width and/or tire diameter. The OEM specs are below. Note that the wider 1LE tires are shorter than the SS tires to keep them from rubbing.
SS Specs are: Front - 8.5 x 20 et 25 wheels with 245/40ZR20 tires Rear - 9.5 x 20 et 39 wheels with 275/35ZR20 tires SS 1LE Specs are: Front - 10 x 20 et 20 wheels with 285/30ZR20 tires Rear - 11 x 20 et 43 wheels with 305/30ZR20 tires There are a number of tire offset calculators on the Internet to help you compare your potential aftermarket wheel specs to the OEM wheels. To answer your specific question the 10 x 20 et 30 front wheel will probably rub without a spacer. If you run a spacer then you have to be careful about lug nut depth. The 6th Gen Camaro wasn't designed to support a square wheel/tire combination with wide wheels and tires. |
