I am changing mine today. I just started noticing the groan when the car has been parked outside. I normally park inside a heated garage which is 20c degrees all year round, but I heard it the first few turns after the car was parked outside for 8 hours in 10c.

The car has 22K km and I have done at least 6 engine oil changes so far, so it is about damn time.

I ordered 2 quarts from GM. Amazon also has it. Here are the links.

Do it, sooner the better. Mine looked terrible and you could feel the grit in the fluid on first change at 10k, I did it again at 20k and it looked better and it's not that hard to do.

I had the diff fluid changed on the drive home from the dealer which was at about the 1100 mile mark. Around 5000 miles later it started groaning and I had the dealer perform the TSB. They flushed it twice and it’s been good. I’ll be doing it myself from now on but getting them to do it at least once for documentation purposes is good. Especially if it’s groaning and under warranty still.

Moral of the story, these diffs are expensive. I’m not going to let one go because I’m lazy or cheap.

I am thinking about doing mine when I install the splash guards. Probably looking at next weekend.

Just need to borrow the jack and jack stands again.

Changed my differential fluid today. The plug had build up and you could see some silver speckles in the sun. I'll drain it again in 2000 miles.

Yes it took about 1.2 quarts. I drove it before I changed it to thin it out and get most of the gear oil out.

I've changed mine three times. First time at 6k miles, then after every two track days.
On all three changes, the fluid that i drained out looked every bit as good as the new stuff i poured back in.
