Should I change my oil?

I have a 18 SS 1LE. I have 1 track day on this oil and about 1000 miles. I use the 0W-40ESP as well. I live in Michigan and store my car in the winter. I plan to store the car with under 2k miles on the oil. My question is:
-Should I replace the oil before? After? Or both?
-If both, can I swap it to 5W-30 to store (much cheaper), then swap to 0W-40 right away in the spring? Maybe burn 1 qt through. If I did that, would I need to change the filter twice as well?
-Replace with 0W-40 now, then do nothing in the spring?

Thanks for the input!

I wouldn't.

And don't put the wrong kind of oil in there. Just don't do that.

I will have 1500 miles on oil in motor when I store it, I'm not going to change it, when I take it out next year 2020, I may put another 1k miles on it then go for oil change.

5W-30 isn’t the wrong kind of oil. It’s still an approved oil( as long it is Dexos1 gen2), just for street use only.

I’m not going to say it’s good or bad for what he is proposing, but 5W-30 is still an approved weight.

I would leave it in there. Unless you think it may have moisture. But I don’t know why it would. Change it in the spring.
Put some fuel stabilizer in it and trickle charge the battery from time to time.
These cars do use some power when sitting. I don’t drive mine much from December to March. I keep it under an indoor cover in the garage to keep dust off the paint.

yep dont bother changing it. Just dont be starting it without driving it for 20min. Idling will just cause condensation that will not be burned off without driving it. if you end up putting 7000+ miles on the oil street driving id change it befor winter. other then that it will be fine. Just change it when it needs to be changed.

What's the OLM say? Take it out for a spirited drive until hot to burn off any condensate/fuel in the crankcase, then put her away for the winter.

Or, change to fresh and worry not.

It's not a good idea to put a car away for an extended time with used oil, especially if it has a lot of miles on that oil. Any acid and other contaminants in the oil will be sitting in the engine for the length of time it is put up. Almost always better to put it away with fresh oil that has been run enough to circulate through the engine.

Agreed

BUT -
1500 miles is not a lot of miles on Mobil1 oil. IMHO.

The OLM will say it needs a change in the spring, it runs on time and miles. Last fall I changed my oil and put it away this spring it said 30 percent life left with only 10 miles on the oil.
