CAI Maintence

How many miles are you putting on you air filter before changing it or clean it.
I have Cold Air Inductions Blue filter. Not sure when to replace it? I have 28,000 miles on it.

do yourself a favor and put the factory airbox back in. Myself and a few others have, and I personally would never go back to the GM CAI. It's terrible

Depends a lot on your environment and how dirty it is. A crude check - Take the filter off and hold it up to the sunlight and see how well the light comes through. I would think that at 28k miles it's time to replace it. A search online will find them for about $80.

How many people think a aftermarket filter is letting too much dirt in? I have a rotofab dry and I am really worried about dirt ingestion. I have had 3 oil analysis done and all 3 of them indicate no presence out of normal of silica, but I'm not convinced a oil analysis can catch that that well. I think it really depends on where you drive too, since I don't drive my car anywhere dusty besides the occasional construction on the side of the road blowing dust onto the road. Obviously I think a oil analysis would show excessive silica on say a construction or off road vehicle with an aftermarket filter.

Like what was said above, you can take these aftermarket filters and hold them to the sun and see right through them, but if you take the stock one it blocks it out completely, you can also take the stock one and unravel it and see just how many layers are on it. This has me really worried.
