Mostly posting to thank everyone on here who helped me learn about the car and find the right deal! One of you in particular made it happen and you know who you are! Very thankful, great community.
White ZL1 purchased last night. Automatic with PDR. First automatic car. I'm sure a 6MT would be fun to make this car sing, but what an amazing transmission! Also can't believe how firmly glued to the ground this car is. Puts my 135i to shame. I've never liked white cars, and had every intention of getting an HBM on Monday, but when I saw this in person my jaw dropped. As I was driving off the dealer lot, I got a text from the sales agent of the HBM I was going to look at informing me that it sold! Things worked out. Out of curiosity, how many of you are getting paint protection? The idea of dishing out another 2400 or so is a little nauseating, but I don't want to regret it later. |

Just got my ZL1 yesterday. Red Hot M6. I am mulling over getting paint protection too. I think I am going to go for it. My 2016 SS with 9000 miles has about 15 rock chips in the front bumper alone.

The ZL1 looks so mean in white, congratulations bro enjoy the car!
Its a hard decision. I paid around 2k to get my clear bra done, now I'm trading my 15' ZL1 for the 18 ZL1 1LE. Sort of regretting it now, only do it if your planning to keep the car forever.

Don't go crazy on the paint protection, but do get it. Rock chips are super annoying to me. I got front bumper, partial heat extractor, area in front of rear wheel, front splitter, side skirts, area behind rear wheel, and door edges. Price was $1400 for Suntek. I only worry about the high impact areas. It's too costly for me otherwise. I normally only do the front bumpers of my cars, but the ZL1 has a sort of complex shape and the painted splitters made me spend more than normal.

Just think of your previous experiences. I don't go for the hood wraps because hoods typically aren't what you see with tons of rock chips. The costs add up quickly with paint protection on this car, so I went with what I saw as the main impact areas.

I have my older ZL1 covered with Xpel. Entire front bumper, half of the hood and front fenders, outside mirrors, A-pillars, front of roof. Basically everything that faces forward and the top of the rear bumper at the trunk opening. I strongly suggest you putting some kind of protection on your car. Be aware that white will show the edges that are over handled and applied incorrectly. Use a reputable shop with a lot of experience with the protection material.
Best of luck with your new car.

Congratulations!
White, A10 with PDR, it sounds like you did well. I just had the whole front of the car done in Xpel and $2,200. The front bumper on the 2017 is not an easy job. The guy did the front bumper, hood, heat extractor which he removed as well as the ZL1 lettering and the front sides and mirrors. He has to redo the front lower splitter; he wasn't satisfied and said to bring it back to be re wrapped. If you are interested in an extended warranty you can PM me and a dealer out west does great deals. Nice looking car, enjoy.

Lot of other threads on the topic of protection. It seems that a lot of us believe that you should get some protection on the nose and hood. Others have commented on how easy it is to get chips in these water-based paints. I did the full front end and believe it was worth spending about 3% of the value of the car to protect your spend. I personally was very happy with Xpel and would do it again in heart beat.
Bye the way... great car. White shows off all of the contrasting colors. Enjoy!
