Is it worth upgrading to the 1LE steering wheel?
I have been thinking about getting a 1LE flat bottom steering wheel. I was just wondering how many of you have made the swap and if you're happy with it or not.

Not into the suede wheel too much, gets ugly fast. If I could get my hands on a leather 1LE/ZL1 styled steering wheel that would be the way to go.
I know this was no real help, but I figured someone out here has a leather style and not suede. |

I'm in the process of ordering one with my GM parts guy, should hopefully have the wheel next week.
Did the shifter swap last week and love it.

Wheel and shifter knob are very easy to keep clean, so in the three years we have had it, no issues with getting ugly. I see no real advantage to suede look over leather, but the "D" does give me a good bit more room since i am a bit taller (6'3").

Im kind of tall too (6'1"), so the flat bottom shape would be a nice touch. Again, the suede is nice and all but not my cup of tea. I'd prefer to have the leather... My friend whom has a 1LE; his steering wheel looks like shit there is no cleaning up that mess. Him and I are in the gym often and our hands are pretty callused and roughed up so maybe that "tore" it up a bit? It doesn't help at all either that we both are weekend wrenchers... I can see the correlation now.

This is just what I was looking for. Haven't touched or had a suede wheel before. I was worried about how it looks after some time.

I wanted suede but I run a receiving dock and knew it would get so messed up. I liked the wheel I purchased because it just has the camaro logo on it.

I went with the ZL1 wheel in leather. Not an option for the 1LE. I did however, also buy the SS plate from the 1LE to avoid stolen badge valor.

Just curious but... what is the reason for converting to the 1LE style steering wheel - especially for daily driver use? Actually, I don't see the reason for one on tracked vehicles either. Enlighten me, please.

I just love the look of the flat bottom wheel honestly. I don't like that my wheel is the same as the one GM puts in all of their cars
