Exhaust Pops crackles 16-18

theres been a few ppl asking about how to increase them and we’ve been hearing that the 2019+cars definitely have more pops coming from the exhaust. this guy posted his stock 2019 file for us to look at and confirms this theory. There are a few tables that effect the decel pops but seems like the min spark tables are what gm changed from previous years. What I did was use the top three rows of both minimum spark tables and blend it in the next row or two. Gm has taken that table further than I have before and yeah it crackles a lot.

That's is how I made mine pop more. Dropped the top 2 rows of minimum final spark to like 5. I wouldn't do any blending, though. It can lead to some weird driveability issues. You can also disable DFCO to get a bit more/longer pop.

If I remember right, I only did mine above 2k rpms so I could keep it from popping when I want to (I leave the neighborhood every day at 4:30 am for work).

Yeah people have been recommending around 5. Take a look at the file, it’s much more aggressive than that. People have said that may result in damaging the cats but I suppose not.

If you look at this file it is blended. If you’re not dropping the whole table and only the top rows you might want to blend a row or two as the 19+ file does.

Not too worried about my cats....

Good info for the guys that kept them tho. Need to go find my hptuners pc so I can look at that file. Dang Imelda flooded me out so all that stuff is stashed away somewhere.

Looks at the top three rows. This is where the decel happens

Ok 17 on top

That's interesting that the spark timing would have changed between 16 and 19.

It's there an easy and safe way for newbies to do this through hp tuners? I just got my car tuned remotely and would like to try this out, but I dont want to mess up the tune that's in it. Mine doesnt pop at all, ever.

Download the file in the op. Copy the top three rows over from that tune into both minimum spark tables in your tune. Take a screen shot and post up what the top 6 rows look like.

Always make a backup copy of the current tune file. Then be sure to do a “save as” and then add the changes to the file name.

had a bimmer glide up next to me last night with all snarling and popping an shit. looked like he was looking for a run. he jumped me first then i merged to his lane and punched. either i caught him by surprise or he lost heart but he was still pulling before I hit my exit.
all show- no go.
