I bought Poweramp few years ago and I love this app. I even get some buttons like play/pause + fwd and back when I browse the map with AA.

I highly recommend it!

Thanks, have to check it out. I really like the Samsung Music app, works real well, but it does not work with AA active, so for now Play Music is the only option, which is OK, not great. Tends to just stop playing music for no reason at all. When I am not connected via AA, I just stream BT with the Samsung app and works great, no browsing issues.

I used it only once but didn't have any issue like yours with Poweramp.

Ah, I get that. Have you considered downloading the music on your phone to a usb drive? Then you can play everything you want (with album art and everything). Full control of your music and you can still use AA for navigation (Google Maps or Waze) and streaming audio (music, podcasts, radio) if you are in the mood.

So many options!

I have some on a USB stick, I just prefer an all in one with my phone.

I have had in-progress cell phone calls stop being on the car system and suddenly be only on the phone itself a couple of time now since going to the updated AA. Is anyone else having that issue?

No not yet but, I have had that happen previously. Usually answers in car and then a second or two later switches to cell phone. Very aggravating

Did you figure out what caused it? I am typically driving along and have AA and Waze running on the dash screen.

When I drive my Jeep (which does not have AA capability but does have bluetooth) the phone is still running waze, but it never disconnects on me.

Not yet...but did you know you can touch the phone icon in the control widget along the bottom of the screen to bring up the phone app and then manually switch right back to Bluetooth?

I have always had an issue (with old and new versions of AA) where my phone does not connect to Bluetooth right away. If I try to make a phone call (or if I receive a call) right after getting in the car and starting up AA, it will start on phone speaker. I just quickly switch to the phone app, click on the phone speaker icon, and select Bluetooth from the menu that pops up.

Easy-peasy!

Very interesting! Thanks for that info!

I will try this when I get in the car later to head home. I need to sit and explore menus while not driving.

How does one obtain the "new" android auto?

Or is it just an app update on the phone?

Make sure you have Android Auto: 4.5.592854-release. Go to Settings within Android Auto. Turn on the option to "Try the new Android Auto."

Should be the very top option.

Enjoy!

Mine doesn't show this option on a Galaxy S7

It worked on my S4.

You don't need to be connected to the car, in fact I recommend against being connected to the car.

1. Fire up AA on the phone.

2. Tap the three horizontal bars in the upper right corner.

3. Tap Settings

4. First item under General is "Try the new Android Auto...". It has a slider switch next to it. Slide the switch to on.

That's it.
