wow.. so... the dog just curled up and died? uninjured? that's a terribly strong bond... about as strong as i feel toward my little boxer girl.

The brit K-9 guys are always with their dogs. Most of them keep the same dog throughout their enlistment. Sadly, we US dog teams don't do that. I worked 3 dogs over 3 years before becoming the kennelmaster. We have some pretty professional critters though.
