Just bolted on the SS track deflectors obviously they fit fine with no clearance issues and they have to move more air because they are about 3 times as big as the factory.

But like someone else above said, damn these are close to the ground that is a 21 mm socket turned on its side so you have about 1" of ground clearance from the deflector to the ground before you break it in half, but I would think that would have to be scooping air up from under the car and shoving it into the brake rotor/hub bearing area.

I get the focus is on air ducts, but holy crap those rotors look worn from just plain track mileage. Am I seeing right that the "j" hook indention is almost gone in some places and nearly 1/8" lip? Also curious number of sessions on rotors and which pads. Seems like you got all the life out of these and then some!

The guy said he paid for the brake rotor he's going to use the whole thing down to the vanes to get his money's worth

Damn! I'll have to be conscious of the clearance or, lack there of! Thanks again!

Well I ran my 1st autocross event since adding the larger brake ducts and not that it is hurting anything but I just thought it was funny, they hang down so low that with hard braking on course they drag and self clearance themself on the ground

I had a very close call at RoadAmerica the weekend of the 4th.

I knew my AP Racing Brake J-hook rotors were getting close to needing replaced. Heat checked fairly badly (RA is incredibly hard on brakes) and I was looking them over closely before every session.

Nothing I could get a fingernail to catch on, nothing too severe on the outer edges of the rings. Was about to go out for my next session and decided just before suiting up to flip my front tires side to side (RA is also hard on the outside edge of the drivers front tire) to see if I could get a few more sessions out of the Michelin slicks.

With the wheels off I had a chance to take a better look at the rotors and this is what the BACKSIDE of the front rotors looked like.

In a word, that next session could have been catastrophic.

So, learned a valuable lesson about making sure I am checking both sides of the rotors - and - it is clear that I could use some more cooling on the inside.

Unfortunately, the Garage Therapy ducts are no longer available. Anyone have a different alternative to get some direct ducting into the back of the rotors on a ZLE??

Thanks for any input.
Thanks for posting these pix. Apart from the obvious TREMENDOUS trauma (and potential severe consequences), FIRST AND FOREMOST, it looks like most of the material was pretty much gone thickness wise. At least in the pix these rings look paper thin...Apart from the usual finger nail check, if i see ANY cheat checks trending close to the outside - it is time. In one of the pix there is a clear split on the outside ring, which should be clearly visible with a rotor still installed. So, notwithstanding that you were checking them regularly (excellent protocol to follow after each session), something seems amiss?
Just from my armchair mind you.

So, the obvious questions here are:
1. What pads?
2. How many days on these?

Additionally, if these are the AP Sprint (vs Endurance) brakes, they are smaller than stockers, so cooling or not, they will go faster. Not sure if this was your car or not, but a while ago i had made this point to someone who posted pix of the AP Sprint set mounted. While they are lighter, with much less mass to absorb and manage heat, they will go sooner. Much sooner! Something to keep in mind on heavy, yet very fast cars (especially on sticky tires).

PS i had AP Sprints on my 3000lb C5Z track car and with DSUNOS they didnt last nearly as long as my stocker Brembos on my SS 1le. Food for thought.

Cheers!

Looks like ground clearance might be an issue with trailer loading and unloading???
