Question about an intermittent p0016 and P0018 DTC

I have a 2016 3.6. The codes are for crankshaft position camshaft position correlation Bank 1 sensor A. The other crankshaft position camshaft position correlation Bank 2 sensor A. It has popped up twice a couple weeks apart and is clearable. My question is what could cause the simultaneous codes and what is sensor A.

I don't know what sensor A is exactly, but you are correct that getting both codes means there is lack of correlation between the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors.
This was a notorious problem in the 3.6L engines deployed in the GMC Acadias, one of which I owned, although I never had that particular problem. The problem was timing chain stretch. I don't know how much heritage the Camaro 3.6 shares with what I had in the Acadia. But here are some links:

This should be covered under the engine warranty.
The guys at my GM dealer said they replaced 3.6 engines with cracked pistons and con rods, probably due to people not coming in soon enough with the stretch problem. This was for the Acadia/Enclave/Traverse vehicles.
