Camaro 2018 TCM programming error

Hi,

I bought damaged 2018 Camaro LT, which has teared off TCM module and damaged connector.

On remains of connector I made new connector from TCM from salvaged chevy traverse, but I want check if it is all correct, can you screenshot page with wiring of TCM connector in camaro 6 LT ?

And another question, I am trying to programm new TCM module , but has error E4491, this module has small left-bottom #24279973, which I saw in 2017 Camaro with same T87 TCM, but main number is 24291583. SPS read module and want to programm it, but it has 0% and error in attachement.

Should I bought new with number #24289543 ? It may have this number in left-bottom and main can be other or main and this left-bottom should be 24289543 ?

I really don't understand why it can not fit. It is all the same T87A TCM module with other programs, but it should be flashable for my programm if it has clean VIN, yes ?

Car was repaired 3 months ago, but I am still fighting with this module, can you help me ?

Sorry for english, I am from Poland it is not my main language. Thank you in advance, kind regards !

I have attached the schematic I think you're looking for.

Also I can't really understand what you are saying the exact problem is, but I think there are fundamental differences in the T87 and T87A, check the thread here:

https://forum.hptuners.com/showthrea...ler-versus-T87

Let me know if that's not what your asking.

I'm new to this, so correct me if I'm wrong. But the 2017+ TCM is encrypted, so you cannot modify the programming unless you get it unlocked through a service such as HPTuners.

Hello, thank you cmitchell17, yes this is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much !

You are right, T87A is encrypted with 5 byte seed/key and T87 only with old 2 byte, so it could be bruteforce attacked for CAN security access.

It is possible that T87 and T87A are much different, but when I was looking for used modules there were both from Camaro 6, of course T87 was from first production in 2016. Anyway this is not important.

The most important thing is that #24279973 module is T87A mounted in camaro6 from 2017, so I was thinking that sps could programm it with new calibration and that will work. Sadly there is a problem that I attached in first post.

Today or tommorrow I will have used TCM with #24289542 main number and #24289543 service, which were mounted in 2018 camaro's. I will check if it will work with not correct VIN.

If you are thinking: "Why he didn't buy new #24289543 at first", no I did not buy it because of I was thinking that T87A is T87A , doesn't matter what programm it has, sps should programm it with my calibration if it is new. But it looks like not, this software is really awful. ACDelco support too, they didn't want to help me because of my vehicle was salvaged, but is that matter? I only asked for help what means these errors and what should propably work.

If used #24289542 with bad VIN will work I will open module and read flash memory (SPC564A80L7) with Xprog 6.12, find VIN and change it to mine. If it will not work too , will buy new #24289543 and try SPS.

So please be careful with module part numbers even if they are same, because of SPS is now software which is not tolerate any mistakes. Thank you really much for this scheme !

I was reading your post and noticed the part# is different from what I found a couple weeks ago when I was looking for. I just wanted to bring it up not sure if they changed it or you got it wrong but the Part number I have is [B]24279973[B] not sure if you just missed a number or not but i think you did and just wanted to make sure you knew.

The other problem you are going to run into is the modules are VIN tied and VIN locked. Once they are flashed with the firmware for the VIN of the vehicle they are going into they are tied to that VIN and can only be used by that VIN vehicle.

I am pretty sure you will need a brand new TCM module and then the dealer will have to use the GMTIS service to bench flash the module if possible, if not they will need the whole car in order to connect to the vehicle and flash the module while it is in the vehicle.

Hello, in the end I just put used module from 2018 camaro SS and it worked ! GDS2 shows clear module without any DTC's. So if anyone will have broken TCM just buy used one from same year car and it will work fine. Thank you

Thanks for posting the final result....this is great information for someone with tcm trouble. I am curious how you accessed the sps system...are you a dealership tech with access?
