advice new car with npp exhaust -issue already?
have a brand new 2021 camaro with the npp exhaust. The car is literally less than a week old.Only 65 miles on it. The car runs great, i just leave the engine sound management in auto mode all the time. it is a v6 auto. Its just that the first "cold" start of the day there seems to be a small "sound" or bang" coming from underneath the car. Then that's it. Car runs great, sounds great, etc...i stop and start the car doing my chores 3-4 times the rest of the day. No problems. Then the next day i wake up and the very first start of the morning there is that loud little "bang "sound. Is that because the car is new, or am I being paranoid, is it the valves on the exhaust? is it the catalatyic converter just waking up, or what? Anyone know what that sound is? or is it just me. thanks. let me know if anyone has any answers....

I have a 2016 and it does the same thing. I think its computer timing and fuel management for cold starts.

hfur, I really don’t think anything is wrong with your new Camaro! My ZL1 sounds off in the morning when it’s cold or sometimes even in the afternoon starting up when leaving work. Keep a check on it is my advice but from your description of the sound I don’t think you have any problem especially since it has so few a miles on it now. Just drive and enjoy the sound of your Camaro.

Just the cold start procedure and Valves are open at startup no matter what mode you are in.

I haven’t noticed the bang some of you guys are getting, but I love the way my Camaro growls on a cold start. It’s almost a let down for my son and I when we start the Camaro again after she’s warmed up.

My ZL1 will pop loudly after restarting when warmed up. I scared a person walking behind it last year in a grocery store parking lot. I swear he must’ve jumped 3 feet in the air and yelled. He was cool about it and told me I had a real nice car. Obviously he wasn’t a car nut like all of us and I told him sorry about that big V8 scaring him!

Totally normal. That’s the “bark” of NPP.
If you want to get rid of it (mostly), before you shut down for the last time before you go to bed, go into the driving mode settings in MyLink, select sound management, then select “stealth”. The bark will be more of a bite on the next cold startup and you’ll be happy. My neighbors probably hate me because I rarely do that and I like the bark!

I have a V6 auto as well, and it does not make any type of bang noise upon start up. Like others are saying there is the cold start procedure on these newer cars, but beyond that there should be no bang type of noise. Also you mentioned starting the car 3-4 times a day in between chores. Explain why you do that if you don't mind
