2019 SS 10 spd shifting problem

If I use the electronic shift at the paddles or the shifter I shift say up to 4th but when I down shift for 3rd it shifts to 1st. I am scared to use it on the highway for sure. LOL. This overrevs the engine.

Are you holding the the down paddle or tapping it? I know if you hold it normally down shifts into the lowest possible safe gear. The computer shouldn't allow the car to over rev but if you have a problem you should take it back to the dealer if it's a brand new 19.

Yeah holding it down will make it downshift to the lowest possible gear for the speed. Like if you were getting ready to roll race. Just tap it once, dont hold it in. This has been around since 2016.

Over-revs, as in pushes the tach past redline?

Or just to an rpm that's shy of redline but way too high for comfort, where it grabs a gear that's much lower than necessary and almost immediately upshifts out of it?

Yes it almost drags the tires. I tried it twice and it was crazy. 30 mph and it shifted into 1st. From 4th after tapping for 3rd. I am not familiar with this stuff. I always had old muscle cars.
