So is everything good now? When are you getting the car?

Sounds like the as we say in the Navy the Passageway woody is a lurking and is looking for you (Dealer tom foolery) AKA the dick. be vigilant.
Now if any layers are lurking in the forums any advice would be sweet. In MD at my dealership, when we signed the contract on My 2SS-1LE 6/6 and jetted home. A week latter the dealer calls and that they on the contract charged VA sales tax of 4.5% instead of MD's 6% and they want the difference. So I said get back at the end of June and today they sent an Email asking about the difference. I responded with send the new contract reflecting the new figures. So Am I on the Hook when the contract was signed at 4.5% and they suck it up or am I required to pay it? Any thoughts?
Cheers

This may not be the popular answer and the one you're looking for, but IMO you bought the car in MD, you owe 6% sales tax even if they made a mistake and only charged you 4.5%.

While it is possible that you can wiggle out of the legal requirement, you still owe them the difference. I wouldn't punish someone for an honest mistake even if I can get away with it.

A lot of that might depend on who registered the car, and who actually is supposed to collect the taxes. I seem to recall that, in MA, the sales tax was actually paid to RMV when the registration was processed. The dealer would/could collect it but it was a straight passthrough. When I bought my car in MA, they could have done the same for me but for CT but it would have required them sending a runner to CT to do the registration. In NY, they use third party companies, but it's always a passthrough.

Without knowing exactly what language is in the contract, it's hard to even guess at whether or not they could hold you responsible for the difference.

I don't know how VA and MD handle sales tax on cars in general, but that's where I would start looking...

Years ago when I bought a car in Virginia as a Maryland resident I was charged Maryland tax and the car was titled in Maryland. Otherwise if it depended on where you buy the car I'd run over to Delaware to get all of my cars (no sales tax).

Should be getting an answer on the incentive soon. I called the finance guy that was handling this, and he said he found paperwork for a $0 incentive and the $750 incentive, So he was going to go talk to the sales and find out why.

Edit: He was off yesterday and he said it looks like the contract was changed to include the rebate. Told me to check the one I get today and make sure, call back if it's not there.

So far overall, Just buy the response to problems, I'm still on the side of they're doing a good job and it's just been honest mistakes.

Got the corrected papers yesterday, and they got them back today.

It's official! Got my Chevy rewards points, GPS tracking is working on the app, etc. Pickup window stars Saturday, now I'm just waiting.

Yeah, I have a new problem. The car won't be here today, but that isn't the problem, the problem is why.

I just texted the driver to find out when I need to be home today, and he said he can't make it today because he is 12 hours away. So it started, since as you know these cars have tracking built in.

So the cars picked up yesterday, and every few hours I'm watching the GPS to view its progress, The salesman actually gave me the idea. Even though I already have one, I wasn't thinking about that.

After it left Illinois, It went to South Dakota. Small town,, I opened it up in maps and saw there is a classic/ rare/ used car dealership there. I was looking at their site. They have some interesting stuff!

The car gained 1 mi and lost 5% of its gas while it was there.

Then the car traveled to Iowa at a rest stop. Sat there for about 10 hours.

Went about 20 more miles, and is now sitting at a gas station. Now there for several hours. It's less than 8 hours from me.
So stationary 10+ hours, 20 miles, stationary 4+ hours.

This is when I texted asking when I could expect the car tonight.

Gained a mile and lost 5% of its fuel? While on a truck? That seems shady...

Maybe unloaded to load/unload another vehicle, leaving the Camaro running during that time, and then when re-loading it bumped up to the next mile?

-Maybe-

5% seems excessive, though. How long does it take to burn a full gallon of gas at idle?
