That's a tall order, unless there is a lot of weight reduction to be had.

Not really with a stock converter car. You can look at Pete's car for example. 127+ in +778 DA. We can still change the seat, do a 15" conversion all around, gears, brakes. His car is a 2SS as well. So we can still drop 100+lbs, gear if better and drop 2K DA pretty easily. That would cover down on 3mph.

Troy's car has trapped as high as 128+ in +500 DA already. There is plenty left on the table with that car as well.

The converter guys are the ones that are going to have problems with mph. I lost 4mph going to my 4C in back to back weekends. But I dropped a tenth or two as well.

Off idle or just above on the stock converter.

With the benefit of hindsight, 3.73s and 26"s would be the ticket. I've been tossing the idea of switching to the 26x8x15 pbr (fastest IRS gto runs these), but my street racing game would suffer tremendously.

Or maybe someone with the cash will step in with a 9" conversion and blow everyone out the door. Lol

3.73 with 26" tire leaving in 2nd would be legit. Trying to leave in 1st would be a hot mess.

I don’t think any gear and tire combo that requires an extra shift/shift into 6th is optimal.

Optimal gear is crossing the traps at or near redline in 5th. A 28 tall tire and 3.27 gear is the best bolt on combo. IMO

I'm a little unclear why ? It sounds sexy but in reality I'm not sure what the goal is other then bragging rights.

Trap speed is a good indicator of power but e.t. is the measure of how efficiently that power is being applied.

An 11.0 car trapping 120 vs the same car trapping 126 tells me that the 126 car is not set up properly. A 130 bolt on car sounds great but if it only runs 10.7 I would not be impressed. My .02 homie.

A lot of my guys are roll racers. MPH is king. Plus a lot of guys don't want to dig in and do a converter so I have to make up for the converter 60ft with mph. If I can stay within a tenth on the 60ft and lay down the mph a stock converter may be able to come close to catching a converter car. We would just have to apply that power to the 1/8th.
I am also very confident that I can get a stock converter car to 1.50 60ft in the right weather. I have two stock converter cars going 1.54 in +700 DA right now. Add a 3.27 to either of those cars and I bet we get into the 1.4X range with a nice bump in mph. Could be a very deadly 10.50 car.

However, I totally agree that set up and out to the 330 is the most important part of a drag race. But an aftermarket billet triple disk weighs more and cost me 10rw in back to back testing. Again, not good for roll racing.

Leaving in 2nd on a 26"/3.73 car would have the same amount of shifts and be in the more efficient 1:1 gear past the 1/8 mile.

At 6,500rpm the 26"/3.73 combo hits 135mph. The 28"/3.27 combo at 6,500 hits 125mph. The 3.27/1.29 5th gear has a 4.21 final drive, the 3.73/1 6th gear has a final of 3.73. Then we have to calculate tire height but it could be a toss up.

5th gear is 1.27. My calculator says 130 mph 5th gear 6500 rpm 28 tall tire.

Yeah leaving in 2nd on that combo would be interesting.

My money is on Jim’s combo being the best.
