Help! Buying a 1SS
So I was getting my oil changed for my 4 banger when I decided to just check out the other Camaros on the lot. One dealer came up to me and started asking me what I want. I told him I'll take a 1SS then one thing led to another he appraised my car for $18K and the quote OTD would be $44,500. Is this worth getting?? Thanks!!

It depends. Is this price with any negative equity and how much? If no, then definitely not a good deal. You can get a 2ss lower than that.

I agree.. That's close to lower end 2SS pricing and you could get a 1LE easily for that. I paid $38 for my 1SS a week ago.

Wow, $44,500 seems a bit high. Is it convertible or 1le??

1SS $44500??? It's your money, but that is not a good deal to me. You must be taking a bath on your trade.

I purchased my 2017 1SS last week. It's only options are the NPP exhaust and the A8. I got it for $37,500. Push for a better deal. You'll get it!

Yeah since I still owe money for my car the difference with their appraisal and the remaining balance is $5k. The car costs $36k but guess up because of that. It is pretty pricey

You're taking too much of a hit at that price IMO. I'd keep the car, wait for the MY19 refresh and sell yours privately when the time comes.

What options are on it? The price of the car is fine, you could probably get another 1k either from the trade or rebates if you negotiate between dealers and use one quote as leverage against the other.
But at the end of the day it's about how badly you want to get out of your current car and how capable you are of paying the monthly payments. I had negative equity in that range but I rolled it into a lease which washes out faster. You are going to be paying upwards of 500 a month leasing at that amount and several hundred more than that if you are buying. If you can pull the payments off more power to you otherwise stay put. Other option is to get an 2lt v6. If you are going from a v4 to v6 it's going to probably be at least a hundred more horsepower, you are going to feel a huge difference in power and can probably save 4 or 5 grand in the process which will get a lease range of around 400 a month. That would solve your negative equity issue while getting you into a fully loaded car with leather interior and heads up display for the next couple of years. Sent from my HTC6545LVW using Tapatalk |
