I purchased Carlyle Racing LT4 Short Block for my replacement

Well I took the easy way out and purchased a Lt4 short block with only 1500 miles. It was replaced with a 416 and I'm the beneficiary which makes me happy. Should be an easy swap and hopefully have it running by the end of January and ready for the track in March. Lower the boost, run different fuel, pull some timing, lower my shift points and actually enjoy going to the track and just try to make around 800 rwhp with a safe tune. I'll get the old motor torn down and will probably sell the Manley Forged Pistons and Rods. I'll also install the Arp main studs out of my motor. I could probably have the Lt1 lined bored and put it back together with a crank that I picked up a few weeks back.

Good deal, Greg. You should be back up and running in no time! The stock LT4 crank is slightly more robust, and apparently the stock pistons and rods are good for anything short of 1000 who or so, in fact, I haven't heard of any LT4 failures that were not oil pump related.

They are pretty stout and saves me money in the long run. I agree, haven't hear of one either.

You gonna do something with that half thrust bearing? There have been some failures( per CSP )as of recent above 800whp due to that piece.

I think we are going to limit this motor to about 800 to be safe. This short block only has 1500 miles on it so should be good for a long time at that HP level. Gonna be a fun year and not trying to even better my best et, don't really care anymore. Just going to try and be around the 9.50s and work on my reaction times and go some rounds instead of breaking shit and loading up and going home. Wife is tired of that also.

Its been a rough 15 months so maybe this will be the route that keeps everything together for a while. Happy New Year to all.

Yea I know how ya feel. I'm on my second engine build within a year on this car and I haven't even thrown any boost at it yet. Best of luck to ya and Happy New Year as well.

What’s the fix for the 1/2 thrust bearing? I looking at the clevite main bearing set and was like wtf? Am I missing a bearing half

Btw the clevite thrust bearing is much more robust than the spot weld oem piece

First time I lost oil pressure while doing some street pulls for Pray and the second time I had a set of PRC heads that were leaking inside some of the runners and hydrolocked the motor. The worst part about the whole hydrolocking ordeal was that I just had my set of GPI drop ins put in the month before. After having my shop pull the motor we found some rods were bent pretty good so I had to start over once again. I will say that TSP did step up and owned their mistake with the heads which lead to us coming to a deal on a 427.
