Why bother if you don't have a clue?
While at lunch today at Whataburger, a guy in the booth next to me asked about my Camaro. I'm used to the "how much did you pay?" and that was his first question. Although I think that it is rude to ask that kind of question without the proper context, I answered him. He then hit me with:
1. What do they have in them these days, 2-barrel or 4-barrel? 2. What kind of engine, 305 or 350? 3. Did you get the automatic? No? So you got the 4-speed? I've heard all kinds of questions over the past 5 months, but these were the most ill-informed. Why ask a stranger about his car if you've been living under a rock for the past 20 years? Just my rant... |

Those are some pretty dated questions but give the guy a break. At least he liked your car.
All of us will fall from Grace one day.

Not such a bad situation actually. I think its good that you were asked abotu your car and that he liked it. Why bash the guy.
Heck, I would look at it as an opportunity to amplify the great new features. EFI, Six Speed Transmissions, safety, fuel economy, power, handling, comfort, etc.

keep in mind tho, he may be a future Camaro owner. and by your "enlightening" him, might have steered him to buying one in the future and thus promoting this car's ability to continue on

I just start making stuff up and talk as serious as I can be.
"yeah, I went with the LS9 engine package as an upgrade" "no, I don't want a manual or auto, I got both and drives even better" "yeah, it's front wheel drive, but I converted with some aftermarket axles, now it hauls ass". |

I guess it was just that he went from question to question without really soaking in the answers. He also implied that it wasn't good value for the money, because at one point in history, the Corvette cost that much.

You should have told them you got the 3-speed on the column shifter (3-on-the-tree) and the dealer convinced you to upgrade to the AM/FM radio from the standard AM radio.

go easy on the guy. Better than having him be a freak and rant about the Challenger.
And the truth is most people don't have a clue about anything anyways. LOL |

When I first got my car, I had the opportunity to sit on the patio of a restaurant where I was within earshot of my car. At this time, I had only seen two other camaros in all of Houston, so they were still a rarity. Anyway, most of the comments and stares were complimentary, but one guy shrugged and said that his money would be better spent on the Challenger. I was very offended until I remembered that I was eavesdropping on his private conversation and he is entitled to his own opinion, even if it is wrong

I was very patient with him and answered all of his questions. My rant is a form of therapy with my Camaro-addiction support group, Camaro5.
