Camaro gets very little driving lately with the supercharger I’m lucky to get 14 mph city driving. I’m lucky to have retired early because my commute would have been rough with these prices these days.

When I posed this gas price question last November here, I was asking people then if it affected how and when they drove their Camaro. Most at the time said it had zero affect whatsoever. Some were even happy we were more like Europe.

But…that was a couple dollars a gallon ago. It’s had an impact on me. I’m retired too but at $6.99 for premium - with a Newsom gas tax HIKE coming, it’s going to be even more painful. But that is the plan after all. You’ll have nothing and be ‘happy.’

I’m finding it hard to feel sorry for people, in general, about high gas prices. The last few times I’ve driven on the highway I’ve set my cruise at 5 over the speed limit (that mere effort lowers my fuel consumption considerably), yet 90% of people are passing me at much greater speeds. This seems to be the rule, not the exception. Things that make you go hmmmmm.

I'm paying $64 MORE for a fill up than I did in June of 2020. Setting my cruise control 5 over ain't going to make that up. That sounds like something that might come from some spokeshole in Washington!

Driving a little slower saves gas and takes less money out of your pocket is all I’m saying.

Signed,

A spokeshole who could care less if gas goes to $10 a gallon. Not my problem.

eh just got back from the hot rod power tour. filled the car up almost every day last week. i noticed that gas is considerably cheaper the farther south you go. $5 for regular in indiana, was under $4 down in the pan handle of florida.

i made the same observation regarding the speed at which people drive. must not be hurting too bad. it's still like race day on the highways.

I run E15 88 octane in my DD 2019 Cruze. It's .30-40 cheaper than E10 Regular where I fill up. I average around 34-36 mpg for hwy and have hit 40.5 mpg on occasion. I run E85 for the ZL1 which is around $4.00 per gallon.

I have found my Vitesse throttle controller to be very usefull lately by taking advantage of it's economy settings. The most savings I think come from applying a slower throttle response so that you don't accelerate too quickly from a standstill. Yeah I know the smiles per mile are gone but if you want to be cheap, the throttle controller makes a definite difference.
