Rockauto 0W-40 Oil and Filter

I was browsing 0W-40 prices this morning and Rockauto seems to have quite the deal.

$8.66 - 1 qt. Mobil 1 ESP 0W-40 oil
$3.46 - 1 ACDelco PF64 oil filter
---------------------------------------
$90.06 - 10 qts. oil and filter

Plus shipping, but this seems to be a great deal. Is it cheaper anywhere else at the moment?

Price per quart is great. When I add 10 to cart and calculate shipping it shows the cheapest shipping option as FedEx Ground at 18.99. Rock Auto shipping seems high when most sites are free.

Autozone has the $37.99 deal for five quarts and a STP oil filter. You have to search part# 124798 to get the right oil and click on the deals link.

My local Auto Zone was $9.99 per quart on the ESP 0W-40 and Wal Mart had the AC Delco PF64 filter. Out the door for oil & filter tax and all $115. Not bad to me.......

This is an outstanding deal! After tax and free shipping, $40.27 for 5 quarts and a filter. $80.54 is not bad at all for all 10 quarts, just requires you to get an additional oil filter.

Can you also apply for the rebate in addition to the promotion?

Some people have returned the filters and bought the proper AC Delco ONE.

Since oil has a shelf life, what is the recommended amount of time to let this oil sit on a shelf in your basement?

I dont need anther oil change until next year.

Most synthetic oils have a shelf life of 7-8 years. Mobil recommends 5 years though. Shouldn't be a problem stocking up for 2-3 oil changes.

Probably been discussed a bunch but what happens if i keep using 5W-30? Is it mandatory to use 0W-40 for like warranty claims?

Our cars were specified for 5W-30 so it's fine to keep using it as far as warranty. IIRC the switch was because the low ash content in the ESP is better for DI engines. I still use 5W-30.

Price for the Dex2 is up to 9.81 so 12 bucks a quart with shipping.
