ZZP Throttle body

Just wondering if it makes any difference with full bolt ons and intercooler with tune. Anyone get one of these and notice anything?

Yes, it absolutely helps, especially if you tune for it. There is a noticeable improvement in the mid-range of the power band.

Actually, being a boosted application, it physically doesn't help at all.

Now, anything that can be "felt" is probably something the can be worked out programmatically with the stock throttlebody via the ECM.

But, again, being a boosted application, the stock throttlebody is not the limiting factor at all. The only way the larger throttlebody can help is in regards to alleviating a restriction, which the stock throttlebody is not a restriction.

Saying that it help in the mid-range really doesn't make much sense, unless you are at part throttle, in which case the actual opening of the stock theottlebody can be adjusted via the ECM programming. The only way a larger throttlebody will help is the fact that more air is entering for the same opening percentage that is commanded, ie, part-throttle. You can do the same thing with a stock throttlebody by pressing down harder on the accelerator pedal.

So, to surmise, the larger throttlebody changes the pedal feel at part throttle. The stock throttlebody is not a restriction at full throttle. The pedal "feel" can be altered by ECM programming.

So it's more of feel hp gains than actual hp gains. Kinda like an air intake, it just makes noise to sound like your increasing power.

Well, in this case it DOES do something, in that say you are at half throttle, ie, 50%. With the stock throttlebody it lets in 50% of the air the the throttlebody is capable of. With the larger throttlebody that 50% opening is now allowing in MORE air than the stock throttlebody is allowing in at 50%, say 58% compared to the stock throttlebody of air is now getting in at 50% throttle. It will "feel" like it gives more power, but you could have done that exact same thing with the stock throttlebody by pressing down just a little more on the accelerator pedal.

You can also retune the ECM and tell it that 50% pedal position is 58% throttle position and it does the exact same thing.

Kinda like the pedal commander-type of products. All they do is change the rate when you press the pedal, so it makes it seem more "jumpy" than it was before, but in reality you can do the exact same thing by making a change in the ECM.

So, to sum up, they DO make a change, but those changes can also be made in the ECM without adding or changing parts.
