Winter Set up

Just picked up a 2020 1SS 1LE a few weeks ago. I know its a bit away but just looking to see what wheels/tires people use or suggest for winter that will clear the breaks on the 1LE(don't worry, the car wont see snow just cold days)

I just use stock base 18x8.5 wheels with 245/50/18 tires.

I picked up a set of ZL1 wheels I plan on running stock 285/305 size Continental DWS's....some day.

Stock SS wheels clear the 1LE brakes.

19s with studded 255s, I'd have to go back to look at the offset, but it works out real nice where the outside edge is about the same as with my OEM wheels.

just get a cheap second set and any tire thats a true ice/snow tire. dont go crazy wide, thinners better. if you youtube tire racks comparisons of summer, all season, winter your mind will be made up! stopping shorter by say 20-30 feet might not seem like a lot but have you seen what a 15-20mph car does when it hits something?? it looks terrible! thats the speed difference when a snow tires comes to a stop and the AS keeps going till it stops! with an ice and snow tire you'll be able to out drive anything on the road no matter the drive train or what it is! remember, snow driving isnt about insane acceleration, its about turning and stopping.

I have a set of these that I used on my 2020 SS 1LE. The only issue I had was when turning sharply (like in a parking lot or whatnot) the inside diameter of the wheel rubs on the air deflectors. Other than that they clear the front calipers by a couple of hairs widths.

Just looks a little odd to see it on those wheels.

Yep, I trimmed one small corner of the deflectors and use 5mm spacers (which I already had on hand for use with other wheels) and that was enough to clear those deflectors.

You can get a set of 19x10 27mm offset to have the same outside position as OEM using a 7mm spacer up front and 1/2" longer wheels studs, which are very easy to install. Or you can use a 5mm spacer with OEM studs, won't make a big difference, but I needed longer front studs anyways. I got a set of MRR wheels on a 40% off sale via discount tire.

I run 265/40/19 Michelin Pilot Alpin tires.

Wheel offset calculators make things much easier:

Mich Alpin PA4 on the 1LE wheels but I run 275/35 and 285/35 on that wheel.

I needed more winter tire than an A/S.

I also picked up a set of stock 20" x 8.5" Camaro wheels. I put Continental DWS 06 all season tires on them (245/40/20).
