I did the Autozone deal and got 10 qrts and 2 filters for $88 total. They sent the 0W-40 ESP X3 Dexos2 version. I asked Mobil about and they said:

The X3 version also meets the GM Dexos2 requirement and will be a safe choice. It's actually been on the US market since before GM moved to a 0W-40 in the Corvette, etc, but has spent most of it's time as a "Porsche dealer only" item until recently.

I'd like to hear what are resident oil experts have to say about the X3 version vs the non-XP

Mobil 1 doesn't make 0w-40 ESP in 5qt jugs. That's why you haven't seen it, and that's why I advised that this information is not correct. You can get the regular (non-ESP) M1 0w-40 there, but not ESP.

Looks like Rock Auto no longer has the ESP 0W-40. Bummer.

So it looks like I either have to drive down to the States to get some at AutoZone, or I would order some from the local Mobil1 distributor. Given the time commitment, gas cost, and tax/duty of the first option... I am leaning towards just ordering some from the distributor and picking them up.

It appears they are just out of stock on the 0W-40 ESP Formula, it doesn't say they won't carry it in the future...

Yeah, I saw that in the universal parts tab after I saw your comment.

That said, I think the price is getting mighty close to the price my local Mobil1 distributor is telling me. I believe the cart ended up being around CAN$200 for 12 quarts and a PF64 filter, which is pretty similar to what I get around here.
