So Dexos 2 oil also has to meet the most stringent anti-wear standards ever placed on motor oils.
This is why ESP formula. It is a low SAPS oil, meaning that it doesn't leave deposits or has reduced deposits. Important in direct injected engines, the intake valves especially. If you are looking for an alternate then look for oils with the European ACEA C3 rating.

THIS! Why is it so hard for people to just use the recommended oil?!?!?!? The engineers recommend it, 99.9% of us are not Automotive Engineers, why not just do what they recommend??? OEM Oil, OEM Oil Filer... Ain't rocket science... Mobil1 0W-40 ESP Formula and a PF64 ACDelco filter... Ain't that hard...

For a completely stock car I agree use what the manual recommends. Now if the motor is modified that's a different story.

Well if the motor is modified then your warranty is out the window so do whatever you please... But all these guys coming up with all this other stuff as what to do (except what the manufacture recommends) for whatever reason, really??? What is the point??? If you want your powertrain warranty, follow the manufactures warranty, if you are smarter than the manufacture and have other ideas, great, just don't expect the to warranty any issues you come across... Either do as they say or do what you will, the later may cost you some money but that is your choice...

It's amusing to me some of the things people will do to their car. Kinda like the ones who put in aftermarket Cold Air Intakes then have powertrain troubles and come here and complain that their dealership would not fix it under warranty.

Not as good of a deal as Rock Auto. Played around to see how much it would cost in the US, and I got US$125 shipped to and taxed in Washington with the 5% off coupon (they always have the 5% off coupon, just gotta look up the code quickly and enter it in the "How did you hear about us" field). This is likely US$160 all said and done.

Yep, good find! Rock Auto sill offering what I'd call 2021 prices. USD$86 for 10 qts 0w40 ESP Formula and a PF64 filter. And there's a $1.50 rebate per filter going on. Probably not going to beat that anywhere right now. Get 'em while they last!

No, a completely unveiled advisory that 0w-40 Mobil 1 ESP is not available at Walmart at all, isn't packaged in 5qt jugs by Mobil at all, and isn't available anywhere for $5/qt.
