The Z has the gas guzzler tax.

zxspeedspec, why so much hatred? There is already so much of hostility today with supply issues, rumors of an EV, LT5, LT6, AWD, Hybrid Camaro, etc.

The throttle map in Tour mode might be tuned for mpg at the rpms used in the EPA test cycle to avoid the gas guzzler tax on the Camaro SS in conjunction with skip shift on manual cars. It would be a relevant fact if the car got lower mpg in track mode on the EPA test. Then if track mode was retained between ignition on/off cycles it could increase the sticker price of a car that was above but close to the cutoff for the gas guzzler tax.

The car is allowed to default in Sport which has more aggressively throttle response than Track mode. That's why I'm saying that claim is irrelevant. Sport likes to pretend the car has more power than it actually does. At 25% pedal position, the blade is already opened to like 45%.

The EPA cycle follows a speed trace, not a pedal input. Between tour and sport, even with the pedal v. throttle map adjusted, it's still requires the same energy (fuel) to get to the target speed, regardless of where the pedal is. The driver would apply less or more pedal to follow the speed trace depending on mode.

So even more proof the EPA excuse is bullshit. GM just chooses to be lazy AF and copy and paste their infotainment code.
