Oh God, I would LOVE to have a train horn, I only use the honk once every 5-6 months, but when I do, I really really mean it. This could show my seriousness for sure.
But I would need a compressor like these guys.... And it doesn't come with HP: http://youtu.be/icnRMW6P9nc In all seriousness though, I dug some more, seems like horns are pretty generic, something like this would sound nice: http://youtu.be/m8cQvQfL8HI Or maybe even this: http://youtu.be/bQ9gYBVol8s |

Crap, I just realized how scared I would be to lock the doors. It uses the horn, doesn't it. Car alarm too...

I was just thinking that myself... come home late at night, not thinking and hit the lock button on the remote a couple times, and wake the whole neighborhood.... |

It used to be that cars had multiple horns. Now you get one. My 1970 Buick for instance has three from the factory. Two are in F, and the third I think is in A. It's jarring when I hit the horn. Authoritative. You don't have to get 'louder' horns. You need to install more horns. Look into it, investigate the sound you want. Cadillac used to have four horns in their cars. Here's a vid of a guy that duplicated the sound kinda well. In a Honda, demonstrating you just need to get 'em and hook 'em up. My '70 Buick's horn sounds a bit like this, but I only have two notes.

Get an old stock pair of horns from a 70's GM product.
I run air horns with the "euro" hi/lo in my Jag... it just sounds right. |

If you do something uber loud, I'd have a separate switch for it. Blow off some train horn action and have a cop pull you over- you can honk your regular horn and claim you have NO idea where that sound came from.

Subarus are known to have the wimpiest horns of any manufacturer in the developed world. Most guys, myself included, swap in a set of Hella Supertones. VERY nice, LOUD sound.
